ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) -A local homeowner is getting a completely new home makeover in Odessa.

Odessa Christmas in Action and Phillips 66 are helping with the project.

Phillip 66 granted twenty-thousand dollars to Odessa Christmas in Action to renovate Laura Padilla’s home.

Padilla says she wants to pass this home along to her grandkids later in the future.

She is happy that her home is getting the renovation it needs.

Laura Padilla has been living in her home for almost four decades.

Her home is getting the basic repairments that it needs but the biggest upgrade is the new ramp in her front and backyard.

“I am very grateful for everything they are going to do because I will be able to walk out my door holding on to something I didn’t have anything, the steps were very hard on us.” said homeowner Laura Padilla.

Padilla and her mom struggled when they would leave the house and it was a safety concern.

Now they have a handrail and a ramp to make things easier for them

“We had to get chairs like this to go down so we could go up and then the chair slipped and everything and thank god it’s better now,” said Laura Padilla.

Phillips 66 and Odessa Christmas in Action took the extra step to organize Padilla’s home

“It went from a simple wooden ramp to now a welded ramp that will be bolted to the ground and more secure for her. These gentlemen are doing a fantastic job painting as well. we were able to do extra steps to clean her entire backyard.” said Phillips 66 Volunteer Coordinator Jackie Duarte.

Padilla says she is glad that her home is getting a new makeover because her home is where her kids grew up and her favorite memories were made.

“Where my children lived before, they were married, everything has happened here and I am happy for all that they are doing,” said Laura Padilla.
