ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - An Odessa man is charged with murder, after confessing to being the shooter in a death that was originally believed to be a suicide. Police say that Jacob Daily, 37, killed 42-year-old Adam Beltran on Saturday in Odessa.

According to the Odessa Police Department, they received a call at approximately 3:47 p.m. on May 18 about a gunshot victim in the 3100 block of North Dixie Blvd. First Responders arrived on scene and found a male inside of a white vehicle parked in the yard deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and during their initial investigation were advised that the victim committed suicide. Detectives conducted an extensive investigation and based on the facts and evidence collected at the scene and subsequent interviews, the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

The victim was identified as Adam Beltran, 42 years of age, of Odessa. His next of kin has been notified. The body has been sent to Texas Panhandle Forensics for autopsy. A key suspect in the case, Jacob Daily, 37 years of age of Odessa, was interviewed and confessed to shooting the victim. Daily was arrested and charged with murder (felony 1st degree) along with felon in possession (felony 3rd degree).
