MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Midland Christian students are celebrating mission’s week by volunteering with local non-profits across Midland.

Both Bynum and Midland Christian students spend the time together doing fun activities.

This was an opportunity for both schools to have a good time together.

“Serving brings people great joy. A necessity to our life so it is a lot of fun. These kids probably don’t know it but they probably bless us more than we bless them and so it is a great experience.” said Midland Christian student Andrew Fox.

Bynum students were able to get out of their comfort zone in the event and try new activities they have not done before.

“Nice getting to see kids who don’t have the same opportunities as us they get to have the opportunity just to be a kid and to have fun and see them smiling.” said Midland Christian student Keller Weathers.

Over six hundred students volunteered to help meet needs in the Midland community.

“We don’t realize how much we have and so when I hear their stories, I just feel brought back by it like it’s bringing me down to earth. I love seeing their reactions.” said Midland Christian student Mia Morales.

The idea of mission week started when Midland Christian saw how much help local nonprofits needed.

It first started with one day of service and then it transformed into a week of service.

“They started on its last spring, and they brought it to the rest of us and we were like yeah absolutely because it was one day and that is not enough, so we’re thrilled to have it as a weeklong.” said Midland Christian teacher Tracy Lott.

Midland Christian is planning to continue to help local non-profits next year.
