MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Being the vice president or just being a board member typically does not happen while you are still in high school, but that is the case for students at the Trinity School in Midland.

The West Texas Food Bank and 10 seniors at Trinity School are excited to launch the brand-new junior board.

It’s still in its infancy, but there are plans to expand to more of the Permian Basin.

The goal is to get students excited about volunteering, but they also want to make a difference and raise some money to help those in need.

The board started with only Trinity students because of a program the school runs each year.

The junior board’s first fundraiser is a Valentine’s Day Dance. It will be on Saturday, February 10 at the Horseshoe Arena.

This junior board has been a long time coming.

The West Texas Food Bank reached out to Trinity with this idea during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next year, they plan to continue the junior board and will open it up to more students at other schools.

Stephens says she wants to create future leaders in the community through this junior board and show the students that you can become a leader at any age.
