Join a world-class health system…

We have one of the best healthcare systems in the world, and care for nearly 3 million Queenslanders every year in our hospitals, emergency departments and clinics.

We’re responsible for the overall management of public health in Queensland, with 16 hospital and health services (HHS) areas. These make up over 100 hospitals, community and mental health services, aged care services and health promotion programs.

Ten of our HHSs are located in regional, rural and remote parts of the state. So you can choose to work anywhere from a hospital on the coast to outback Queensland. You might also want to experience a different cultural setting and head up to Cape York and care for some of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

We couldn’t do it without you

We value every single one of our nearly 99,000 employees.

The diversity of your experience, talents and ideas gives us the unique opportunity to better understand and care for our communities.

We’re committed to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion, and encourage our people to truly be themselves at work, regardless of beliefs, gender, ability, identity, ethnicity or age.

Being able to be your true self at work, being accepted for who you are, regardless of your background, orientation, gender identity or disability, is vital for us to be a wholly accepting workplace.'

Meet Fox

Profile photo of Fox

Fox is a proud Samoan raised in New Zealand who brings lived experience to his Māori and Pacific Islander Hospital Liaison Officer role. Fox’s role supports patients at Logan Hospital to ensure their cultural needs are met and they’re accessing relevant services, like interpreters.

‘My passion is being able to help our people who don't understand their healthcare rights.

I always check in to see if there's any cultural barriers that are stopping them from accessing medical care. And if there are barriers, what are they, and what can I do to minimise those barriers?’.

What it’s really like to work for Queensland Health

Everyone has their own definition of a great job. We’ll pay you a competitive salary, offer generous leave benefits and help you build your superannuation savings. But that’s just the beginning.

Our commitment to work-life balance and flexibility goes beyond mere policy. We recognise that our team members have responsibilities outside of work, whether it's caring for loved ones, pursuing education, or managing personal commitments. We value your life beyond Queensland Health.

We also recognise the importance of job satisfaction. Where you work and how you work best matters to us too.

Our people

Our people are passionate about what they do.

'Last year, I supported 140 women throughout their pregnancies. This included women with chronic health conditions like type 1 diabetes, some who fell pregnant whilst receiving chemotherapy or others who were diagnosed with some form of cancer.'
Sophie, midwifery navigator from the Gold Coast.
'I would like people to try and put themselves in the shoes of someone who is struggling to navigate our health system. By doing so, we can provide care to those that need it most.'
Angel, Multicultural Health and Languages Services Team, Department of Health
