I am delighted to introduce you to our website dedicated to building an interactive forum for our new online and open access journal, ‘Global Health, Epidemiology and Genomics (GHEG)’ which will be formally launched in autumn 2015.

GHEG, as the title suggests, will be a cross-discipline journal exploring population science and technological advances to improve human health. I consider this to be the journal’s strength and am confident it will become an invaluable resource for all those involved in these diverse but inter-related fields.

I am honoured to be the Editor-in-Chief of GHEG and look forward to working closely with its Associate Editors who, both individually and collectively, offer an impressive wealth of experience and interests – spanning public health, epidemiology, indigenous health, infectious and non-communicable disease in a global context- and represent Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, North America and South America. Together we are committed to building a journal that facilitates strong, competitive science and provides an innovative, engaging and practical resource for the global health research community through which we can publish and discuss new scientific research, exchange ideas within and across our related disciplines and share resources to facilitate efforts to increase our understanding of human health worldwide.

We are committed to engaging with a wide audience and encourage submissions and contributions from across the world in order to achieve our goal of facilitating a truly worldwide discussion about global health. As part of this commitment we will endeavour to remove barriers to the publication of and access to global health advances:

• GHEG is an open access journal and all content is freely available;
• GHEG will waive all article processing charges until December 2016 and thereafter will offer a waiver for eligible countries;
• GHEG will actively support the provision of language support services;
• GHEG will offer an efficient review and production process to reduce the time between successful contributions being submitted and published;
• GHEG will promote its content on our interactive website offering the opportunity for increased visibility and wider dissemination for science.

I believe that the website has a key role to play in facilitating debate and discussion and building and engaging the global health community. Our aim is for it to act as a source of information about GHEG, to provide topical content through its blog post and to host an interactive forum for all those with an interest in human health. This is your tool and we encourage you to use it, contribute to its content and share it across your networks.
