The First "Avengers" Movie Premiered 11 Years Ago, So Here's What The Cast Is Up To Today

What's he up to these days? He has continued to be a movie star, and his most recent movie was The Protégé in 2021. He also starred in the miniseries The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray this year.

Still in the MCU? Yes! His most recent outings as Nick Fury were in Secret Invasion, the newest MCU show on Disney+, and The Marvels, which is the sequel to Captain Marvel As for what's next, you'll be please to know that the events of Secret Invasion tie right into The Marvels, which hits theaters on November 10 and will reunite Fury with Captain Marvel.

What's he up to these days? In between his MCU gigs, Tom has taken on lots of dramatic acting roles on screen and stage. The most recent is his portrayal of Will Ransome in The Essex Serpent, which airs on Apple TV+. He also narrates the animal docu-series Big Beasts on Apple TV+, and will play the title role in 

Still in the MCU? Well, yes...but there's a catch. The end of Loki Season 2 saw our favorite god of mischief finally fulfill his glorious purpose — he's holding the literal fabric of time together with his bare hands, alone at the End of Time. It's a fitting, bittersweet end to the MCU's iconic antihero, and it means that Loki is very much alive within the franchise, if a little too busy to participate in any other shenanigans. The interviews from Tom and the Loki creative team certainly imply a sense of finality for the character as we know him, but it's too soon to rule out an onscreen return.

What's he up to these days? His MCU run catapulted Chris Hemsworth to movie star status, and he continues to prove why. He's everywhere! His most recent non-MCU films are Extraction (which is getting a sequel soon) and the upcoming Spiderhead.

Still in the MCU? Yes! As of the end of Thor: Love and Thunder Thor is still alive and well, and Chris has said that he'll keep playing Thor as long as audiences wants him to and the story is interesting. The post-credits scene in Love and Thunder introduced a potential new enemy for the God of Thunder, so there's plenty of story left to tell.

What's he up to these days? Mark Ruffalo was an acclaimed actor with a long career before he joined the MCU, and that hasn't changed. He recently won several awards for his portrayal of twins in I Know This Much Is True, and he played Ryan Reynolds's dad in The Adam Project. 

Still in the MCU? Yes! He was in the two episodes of the Disney+ series She-Hulk. Beyond that, who knows? According to to man himself he'll play Hulk as long as Marvel lets him, telling Variety, "I’ll probably do it as long as they’ll have me, if people are interested, and I can bring something that’s interesting to me to it, and interesting to the fans."

What's he up to these days? Paul was recently nominated for an Emmy for his work as Vision in Wandavision. Outside of the MCU, Paul has played comedic and dramatic roles alike, most recently in Uncle Frank and A Very British Scandal.

Still in the MCU? Yes AND no. It's unlikely that we'll ever hear Paul Bettany's voice as J.A.R.V.I.S. again. Paul obviously also played Vision, and even though the original Vision is gone for good, White Vision is still flying around somewhere. It's almost impossible that the MCU won't address this at some point. I wonder what he'd think of Wanda's latest exploits...

What's he up to these days? He's been pretty busy with MCU projects in the last few years, but he also recently starred in The Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+.

Still in the MCU? Unclear, but likely. At the end of Hawkeye, Clint is alive and well, even if he feels a little too old to keep up with the superhero lifestyle. We'll probably see him again in some capacity, we just don't know when. It's super unlikely that they'd end his story offscreen, right?!

What's he up to these days? Since ending his run as Iron Man, he actually hasn't taken on many acting roles. He starred in Dolittle and executive produced two TV shows. He'll make his return to the big screen in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

Still in the MCU? No. Iron-Man died in Avengers: Endgame.

What's he up to these days? He voiced Buzz Lightyear in the upcoming film Lightyear and plays the villain in The Gray Man. He's confirmed to have at least three more projects in the works, so the former Captain America is keeping himself busy.

Still in the MCU? Nope. Captain America went back to the past at the end of Avengers: Endgame and was confirmed to be dead in the original timeline as of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. 

What's she up to these days? In between her MCU appearances, Scarlett received her first-ever Oscar nomination (two, actually) in 2019. Her next role is in Wes Anderson's upcoming film, Asteroid City.

Still in the MCU? No. Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame, and Scarlett took her final bow as Natasha in Black Widow. 

What's she up to these days? She's continued popping up in the MCU over the years, but Cobie has a wide-ranging TV and movie career. Her most recent work includes Impeachment: American Crime Story and a surprise cameo in How I Met Your Father.

Still in the MCU? Not for now. Maria Hill returned in Secret Invasion, but Cobie believes that her death at the end of Episode 1 is pretty final.

What's he up to these days? After ending his run on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he's continued to appear in TV shows and movies, most recently including The Conners and Being the Ricardos.

Still in the MCU? Unclear, but unlikely. Agent Coulson died (again) in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., seemingly for the final time. He appeared as a "Life Model Decoy" in Season 7, and as his younger self in Captain Marvel. Technically a return is possible, but his story seems pretty wrapped up.

What's she up to these days? In the 10 years since The Avengers came out, Gwyneth has stepped away from playing leading roles so that she can spend more time at home. She continues to run her lifestyle brand, Goop.

Still in the MCU? That depends. Gwyneth has said she's happy to return to play Pepper as long as she can film her scenes in one or two days. Without Tony, however, there might not be many opportunities for Pepper to come back. But, who knows?
