“Spider-Man: No Way Home” Is Out And We Still Can’t Believe They [REDACTED] [REDACTED]

Nora Dominick: My expectations were high going in. The movie was very hyped, it's been talked about for a while, so my expectations were really high. I would say they were met. And I think the best way to describe my gut reaction is, midway through the press screening, I was crying so hard that the woman to my left, a total stranger, passed me a tissue and went, "You need this more than I do."

ND: There are so many. I know we'll talk about it later, but obviously, the other Spider-Men appearing, like Tobey and Andrew, that was something where I was going to be disappointed if they didn't show up because we all kind of assumed they were. But it was still amazing to see them. And then obviously finally tying — Hawkeye's doing it too — but finally tying Daredevil into the MCU is huge. I loved that show on Netflix. It was so good, and I'm so glad it's finally being folded into this larger story as well.

ND: I would love to see Matt Murdock be in it more. I think it's so important. We're getting Kingpin in Hawkeye, so it's really great to see these actors who have really loved those characters. And Marvel just at that time wasn't folding in the TV shows into the MCU. So it was almost like they were doing this very standalone thing. People loved it, but it's really great that they didn't recast or do anything like that — that they knew these actors and the fans loved them in these roles. So it's really nice, and I hope we start to see them sporadically. I would love to see them in their own movie, but it's really great to see them pop up more and more

ND: I think she's slowly become so important, and it's so funny. Looking back, Tom and Zendaya did an interview recently with Entertainment Weekly, where they were like, "I can't believe the biggest spoiler from the first movie was Zendaya's character name." And now thinking back, that's literally nothing compared to all the spoilers they had to keep for this one. So it's really great to see her be more involved. She's Peter's girlfriend in this, but that's so secondary to her role doing other things, which is so nice to see. I would love to see more women in general in the Spider-Man films. I think that's still kind of lacking in that department, comparatively to all of the other Marvel movies and shows where we're getting a lot more female representation. But it's been great to see what she's been able to do with this character and really put her own spin on it. I've enjoyed it for three movies now. It's been so great. 

ND: It was so great seeing how they're still playing such different Peter Parkers. My favorite Peter is Tom Holland's. I think I was a little too young during Tobey Maguire. I'd seen the movies, but I was a little young. And then Andrew Garfield's movies as movies weren't that great. But I did love him. But Tom has done such a good job, and he's always my favorite. It's so great, and it's so nice to see a younger kid playing him. Tom's 25, and it's so great to see the younger version. 

But what I did love in this movie was Andrew Garfield having so much fun, and you can tell he was just having the time of his life. His trilogy was infamously cut short — they never did a third one. So he was supposed to have a third movie and they just never got there and they never thought it was necessary, so it was really nice for him to get closure for his character. 

And it was great to see Tobey as kind of like the older, wiser Peter. He was just kind of like, "Yeah, I've been through this." He literally shows up in the movie in a sweater, and Andrew Garfield is like, "Are you going to stay looking like a retired youth pastor this whole time?" And then there's like a whole running joke about how his back is bothering him because he's been Spider-Man for all these years.

ND: I'm going to be so mad if this is how we leave Tom. I'll be devastated. There are already rumors that they're trying to get a fourth Spider-Man. If anybody could get SONY to keep lending Spider-Man out to the MCU, it's going to be Kevin Feige. I would love to see it happen. I know Tom has said, "I don't want to be playing this character into my thirties. That's not who Spider-Man is," but I definitely think they ended it in a way where we need more.

She talked to Entertainment Weekly about working on Don’t Look Up, the first film she’s done since COVID began, saying: “I found it really hard. I didn't feel funny in the lockdown. When I would come in to shoot my stuff, [I'd] get out of the car and hadn't spoken to anybody in three weeks. [I'd] walk into the stadium in Worcester, put on the wig and the nails and the suit, and make a speech to all these people. I just lost it. I forgot how to act, I forgot what I was about. It sort of dismantles your humanity, to be isolated like that."

She added that she got through it in part because of Jonah Hill, who “kept [her] laughing.”
