Poppy PR:
Poppy PR founder Tina Clough has brought in ex-journalist Phil Stubbs (both pictured above) as a partner and shareholder following a recent growth spurt. The firm, founded in Ilkeston in 2011 and now based in Castle Donington, has seen significant expansion over the past year, with a host of new client wins.
New director and business partner Phil will work alongside Tina to help guide the company through its next period of growth.
The former Derby Telegraph political editor launched his own PR consultancy Stubbs PR in 2008, and has also been working as part of the Poppy PR team for more than two-and-a-half years.
Tina and Phil decided that a more formal, joint approach was beneficial and legal advice was provided by Derby-based Smith Partnership.
Tina said: “I’m delighted to officially welcome Phil on board as a shareholder in the business. After more than a decade of steering this ship single-handedly, it feels the time is right for me to share the wheel.”
Get Laid Beds:
Luxury wooden bed maker Get Laid Beds has appointed Scott Shields as its chief executive.

Scott has over 20 years’ experience spanning manufacturing, marketing and strategy and growth across various sectors, and was previously sales vice president at TransUnion. He has also worked at Equiniti, Williams Lea and Hobs 4DM, and this is his first move to the home and interior sector.

PWC:
PwC Midlands has announced a record round of partner and director promotions, with seven Midlands directors admitted into the partnership, and 18 senior managers promoted to director, across all lines of services.
The seven Midlands partners, over half of whom are women, join a total of 74 new partners admitted across PwC in the UK, taking the partnership to more than 1,000 partners for the first time.
The new Midlands partners are part of over 400 promotions made across the region, including 33 senior managers and 57 managers.

Experienced sales professional Clare Buttery has joined NLT Training Services as business development executive, following significant growth for the Chesterfield-based training provider.
Clare brings a wealth of business development experience to her new role, having held senior sales roles at businesses including Coca Cola, Veolia UK, Molson Coors and Cadbury Plc.
Demand for NLT’s courses in both Chesterfield and Scunthorpe has increased post-Covid, with businesses across a number of sectors and industries, looking to upskill employees amidst recruitment challenges.
Within the Business Development role Clare will ensure that businesses and individuals are aware of NLT’s portfolio of more than 100 short online courses, as well as its range of CMI-accredited leadership and management courses.
She will also assist organisations identify future talent within their workforce, matching them with training and development packages.
Rutland Hall Hotel:
A luxury resort hotel in Rutland has appointed a new director of revenue and operations – as it builds on its reputation as a destination venue in the county and beyond.
Claire Hemphill will use more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to help elevate the guest experience at Rutland Hall Hotel.
Her hospitality career began in food and beverage, and she has worked in various roles including reception, sales, conference and events, weddings, and revenue management, accumulating invaluable insights into the inner workings of a luxury hotel.
Rolls-Royce:
The University of Derby is set to recognise the former chief executive of Rolls-Royce with an honorary degree.
Warren East will be among those to be recognised at the university’s forthcoming summer graduation ceremonies, which will take place from July 19 to 21 at Derby Arena.
As well as Mr East, among the recipients of honorary degrees will be Martin Austin, the founder of Derby-based consultancy Nimbus Disability and legendary West Indian cricketer and ex-Derbyshire County Cricket Club player Michael Holding.
Other recipients of honorary doctorates will be motorcycle racing icon Ron Haslam, mathematician Professor Nigel Hitchin, musical comedian, actress and writer Isy Suttie and art historian Miltos Frangopoulos.
They will join around 2,700 graduating University of Derby students at the ceremonies.
Mr East, who will be made an Honorary Doctor of the University, was appointed as chief executive of Rolls-Royce, which has its civil aerospace and defence divisions in Derby, in 2015.
He took on the position following a series of profit warnings, returning the engineering giant to profitability and steering it through turbulent times, including the pandemic and its impact on global aviation.
Pendragon:
Pendragon chief operating officer Martin Casha is standing down to take up a position as CEO of Marshall Motor Group. He has been part of the Nottingham-based Pendragon team for 42 years.
Pendragon said his role will not be replaced and his reporting lines will be re-distributed across the senior leadership team.
He will continue in his role as COO and as a director until November 7, ensuring a smooth and orderly transition.
Chief executive Bill Berman said: “He has been instrumental to the growth of the business and more recently, he has played an important role in implementing our strategy to transform automotive retail through digital innovation and operational excellence.
“We wish him all the best for his future endeavours."
