Mr Murphy said: "I'm excited to be joining the team at Bullring and Grand Central. Over the years, I've watched as the destination has become not only a landmark for Birmingham and the centre for local communities but centre stage for world events such as the Commonwealth Games.

"Next year, we'll celebrate our 20th anniversary so I'm looking forward to working with the team to create new experiences that will engage and excite our customers in ways they've never seen before."

Among the new tenants set to open next year are a new Marks & Spencer food-led store in the former Debenhams anchor unit, interactive football venue Toca Social, fashion brand Tessuti and the Midlands largest JD Sports.

Recent store launches include gifts and homeware retailer Miniso and luxury watch brand Breitling.
