Free to Feed Winter Feasts
Melbourne-based social enterprise Free to Feed is back with a new instalment of its much-loved Winter Feast series. Celebrating the flavours of African, Ukrainian, Persian and Iraqi cuisines cuisines over seven separate events, the team will pay tribute to the recipes, culture and stories of alumni cooks and people they’ve worked with along the way.
North and east African winter feasts
June 13, 6:30pm–9:30pm
June 14, 6:30pm–9:30pm
Join cooks Orlin, Nada and Halima for a meal drawing from Morocco, Egypt and Somalia. There’ll be fava bean dip; smoky baba ghanoush; goat curry; savoury potato and dried fruit pies; semolina and almond cake and more.
Ukrainian winter feast
June 29, 12pm–3pm
Free to Feed’s Oksana is flying the Ukrainian flag solo at this long lunch, where she’ll prepare pumpkin soup, beetroot and feta salad, beef and cabbage rolls, shortbread cake with prunes and almonds, and a few more special dishes. Plus, an optional drinks package featuring four vodkas. Budmo! (Cheers!)
