Drom means dream in Swedish. It’s also the name of this buzzing bakery, which nods to the bakers who rise early to work while their customers are still dreaming away in bed. Run by the family operation behind neighbouring cafe The Hatter and the Hare, the takeaway spot draws early lines along its monolithic facade.

From outside, you can watch bakers roll out dough through a circular window before heading through the glowing, neon-lit entrance. The sleek Zwei Interiors Architecture-designed space features a glassed-off open kitchen, where you can get a glimpse of the baking process. That includes its picture-perfect crescent-shaped croissants, which are made over three days.

With more than 1200 pastries made daily – all perfectly stacked behind the long glass cabinet up front – there are plenty of options to choose from. Try crowd favourites like the twice-baked hazelnut and chocolate crescent-shaped croissant; mixed berry and custard half-moon croissant; or perhaps a buttery crème brûlée croissant. There’s also a wide selection of cakes, tarts, doughnuts and cookies to satisfy every sweet tooth. On the savoury side, expect hearty toasties (including a standout triple cheese with mozzarella, cheddar, taleggio and green tomato chutney), sandwiches and loaded bagels, as well as a rotating selection of pies and sausage rolls.

To drink, find beans courtesy of Five Senses Coffee and specialty lattes – including cherry blossom and lavender – alongside classics like matcha and chai. These pastries are known to sell out early in the day, so it’s best to pre-order online or swap your morning dreams for Drom.
