Love is a central theme across all of Grammy-Award winning rock artist Lenny Kravitz’s 12 best-selling albums—from “My Precious Love,” a track on his debut album in 1989, to “Love Is My Religion,” a hit from his most recent musical work. The influential artist has also had firsthand experience watching a beautiful love story unfold: His daughter, Zoë Kravitz, and actor Channing Tatum have been together for three years and are currently planning their wedding, which is set to take place next year. When Lenny’s only child marries the Magic Mike star, the musician will play a prominent role in the affair as the father of the bride. In an interview with InStyle, which was published on June 5, 2024, Lenny opens up about taking on the honor of walking Zoë down the aisle.

When Lenny guides his daughter toward the altar on her big day, he says it will be a joy-filled moment. Primarily, the “Let Love Rule” singer predicts he will feel “Just happiness, you know?” he shares with the outlet. “Happiness knowing that she’s confident in her choice and is looking forward to building a live with someone. They’re equally matched and equally yoked. Just happiness.”

Lenny has a close relationship to his daughter—whom he shares with ex-wife Lisa Bonet—which will also make the experience of walking her down the aisle incredibly special. “The thing that I’m most proud about with Zoë is what an outstanding and beautiful individual she is,” Lenny gushes. “I mean, she inspires me. She’s her own person. It can be difficult growing up when you have parents that are known for something…To see her become this creative force—she’s so independent. She’s so talented and free. I couldn’t be more proud of the human being she is.”

The record-breaking rockstar also shares his outlook on romantic relationships in his own life and whether he’s interested in settling down again. (Lenny was married to Bonet from 1987 to 1993, when they finalized their divorce, but since then, he hasn’t exchanged vows with anyone else—although he reveals that he has come close to marriage.) “It’s something I really fantasize about, long for in reality,” Lenny says of spending his life with another person. “So it’s not just a fantasy, it’s something that I long for, but you cannot, everything takes the time that it takes, and I’ve had lots of lessons to learn.”

Although Lenny says that being in a relationship is “challenging” for him, after spending years focusing on self-development, he says he’s at a point in his life where he’s ready to be in a relationship. “I feel like I’m at a place where I truly believe that I’m ready, and it’s really just about the right person and the right time,” Lenny states. “Timing is so important—you can meet the right person at the wrong time, you know? You can meet the wrong person at the right time. You could do all kinds of things, you know? It really takes the two of them, and so, I’m open and patiently waiting. I know that it’s coming because I’m in the best place that I’ve ever been in my life—mentally, physically, and spiritually. And it’s hard, too, because I’m good by myself.”
