There was a funky smell in the room. Bathrooms should be cleaned more often. Flying cockroach in the room.

The location is excellent and the price is fair for NYC. We felt very safe.

Air condition in the room was barely working, we stayed 16 days and apart from taking out thrash once in few days, sheets or any other part of room was not touched at all although we were told room supposed to be cleaned by house keeping once in 4 days.

Location was great, near a subway station and right across the road from Central Park. For Manhattan, this place is value for money, a little scruffy but expected. I needed a place to work, and it offered a great base to explore the city. Bonus to get access to the gym, sauna, steam room.

My room had the air conditioning outdoor units located on a deck right outside the bedroom window. This was extremely noisy, could not sleep with our aircon on as the noise with this and the outdoor unit was too much! Only 3 showers and toilets on my floor, with a large amount of rooms finding time to shower when they were not all in use was difficult!

The facilities are old and need some work. The rooms are basically dorms with shared bathrooms/showers (3/gender on each of the 9 floors). This also means high usage with about 70 rooms on each floor, so it's impossible for maintenance teams to get to everything and keep the consumer costs low. Beds will be uncomfortable (single bunks with small pillows), old (read loud) AC units blasted day and night to try to keep the room cool, and housekeeping is not an everyday (again to give you savings). The wet spaces weren't well kept: broken dispensers, unfilled amenities, even bits of mold. If you have a membership to one of the many national fitness chains in the city, it is better to shower there and only use the Y to sleep.

Young people who simply are looking for a place to rest or are used to hostels will have a good time. The location simply cannot be beat for about $100 a night. You're in the heart of Central Park with quick access to several lines to go anywhere in NYC. Lincoln Center offers plenty of options for entertainment, and the Rockefeller is about a 15 min walk. The nearby Shops at Columbus Circle and Nordstrom flagship offer top notch shipping while the Upper West Side has some of the best eats in the city.

Room resembles a jail cell, WiFi diabolical, probably to do with the numbers of people staying there.

Location was very good, Midtown by the bottom of Central Park, 5 minutes to the Subway, decent gym facilities.

Staff were lovely.

Central Park is steps away and close to restaurants, grocery stores and transportation. I had a small comfortable room with AC and shared bathroom. I really enjoyed it.

This is exactly what it is described as, a YMCA with converted "dorm" style rooms. Nothing fancy, the male communal showers/bathroom was never busy on my floor. Didn't have a chance to your the actual Y facilities but thats such a nice perk to have regardless!

Best location for the price, right across from Central P, a block away from main subway terminals. A Target one block away for groceries and Whole Foods.
