How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Clean and nice place, well located (JFK/UMass). Comunicative host and very clear instructions. The apartament has everything most travelers may need. Totally recommended A+++

The welcome message was far too long and repetitive which made it difficult to find the required information. I felt a little uneasy after reading in the message that the location of Dan’s other house was in a ‘very safe’ area while ‘no guests had been assaulted’ in the area of the house I was staying in. This made me feel uneasy before I ever got to the property even though I had no trouble with anyone in the neighbourhood. Twice when I got to the front door of the building it had been left unlocked (presumably by other guests) and two very large windows left open in the kitchen one night while no one else seemed to be around, these made me feel slightly less safe/comfortable but Dan had left clear signage to lock the door and close the windows. My room was directly off the kitchen which was quite noisy from 7am so I had to sleep with earphones in.
Great facilities and attention to detail, toiletries and some food provided complimentary which is a nice touch (although the pretzels provided in my room looked to be out of date). Dan was very helpful and responsive, a good host.

The only thing that was worrying was the neighbourhood. I did not feel safe at all,.although in the end nothing bad happened.
The apartament was very clean and it really felt like at home. You could feel that someone is taking care of it.

Some folks in the neighborhood enjoyed playing rather loud music, although this stopped early in the evening and didn't really impact sleeping.
In an expensive city like Boston, this was a great option for a very reasonable price. The host Dan was very helpful in explaining how to get to and into the place and how everything worked in the house. The location was very close to the subway, which made traveling to / from the historic city center or the airport quite easy. The house was nice, practical, quiet and clean, with all utilities to prepare food for yourself. The house was also located in a historical-feeling part of the city with a lot of character. Internet was very stable. Very good value for money!

Very residential area. Too many postITs from Dan with does and don‘ts in harsh wording. Please reconsider. You have a nice place, but this is pushy. Also the cameras in the Common space gave me an uneasy feeling.
Very good bed and clean, however please have look on your black radiators- they ruin the result.

Booking availability is getting harder and harder during the summer.

Would have been nice to have met someone on arrival, but not a big deal. Gaining entry was easy. All good.
Great location. Close to shops and food places. Short walk to metro in to town. Street parking outside house. All facilities, dining room and kitchen.

Dan's place at Grant St was very comfortable, super clean and quiet. The beds were super comfortable. Very close to the Subway station, and easy to commute around Boston. Dan was responsive and helpful. Thanks Dan for a lovely (and affordable) stay in Boston!

The parking in the area is scarce but it is Boston, we were happy to find bon-residential parking around the house. But pay attention to the street cleaning days and those days finding a parking spot is harder. The host sends extensive info before you come and it is little bit hard to navigate as he has 3 facilities. But then again it is better than no information. So all and all we enjoyed our stay, nothing to complain really. We would definitely stay here again.
Everything! The location is close enough to the city. Facility was spotless and cleaned daily. There was continental breakfast and coffee/tea. There were 3 people rooms, that other guesthouses didn’t have. It was very reasonably priced, especially when you compare it with hotels in the city. Host gave very detailed information about parking in the area.

The price was about 2 times after including everything like tax, but otherwise, everything was excellent.
Clean and confortable place. Even kitchen, living room and bathroom also clean. It was not so many people stayed there, so very quiet and nice. Some free meal like coffee, milk, weather, bread which was also nice.

Check in and out was very simple. Very clean and well equipped place. Great location and nice neighbourhood. Easy to find. Parking on street was pretty easy. Comfortable bed. Two bathrooms was great, you’d never know there were four guests/sets of guests on the go. Quiet place.

In town over the weekend for a couple ball games. This was way more affordable than anything else I could find. Very clean and easy check in. 15-20 minute Uber to Fenway. Will likely try to book again next time.
