We initially planned on staying for 1 night, but then ended up staying for 1 week. It was a very nice hotel, with a nice pool. Everything is extremely clean and the rooms are very modern. The bed is comfortable and there is AC. Also the doors are extremely safe, and modern. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. There is also a little café downstairs, with breakfast and snacks. The highlight were the little puppies that were often outside of the hotel!

We recently stayed at the Jumeirah Bali hotel and were enchanted by the beauty of the place and the impeccable cleanliness of the villas. The staff was remarkably kind, making our stay even more enjoyable. Special mention goes to the Akasa restaurant, which not only offers high-quality cuisine but also allows you to enjoy a breathtaking sunset in a magical setting.

However, two details slightly marred our experience. After breakfast, we went to the seaside, where there is a private area for Jumeirah guests equipped with sunbeds and tents. We sat for a few minutes on a bungalow, but to our surprise, an employee informed us that this area required an additional fee of 1,500,000 IDR. To be honest, the beach itself is not particularly attractive, with a public beach and people spreading their towels right in front. For the room price, this policy seemed inappropriate and not very commercial, especially since the beach was empty at that time. Additionally, as regulars of the Jumeirah chain and residents of the United Arab Emirates, we were surprised to have to pay for the water bottles found in the villa. In Jumeirah hotels in the Emirates, we have always received some goodies like bags or bottles as souvenirs. In Bali, there was no indication that the bottles were extra, leading us to take them thinking they were complimentary. During check-out, the receptionist asked us to pay for them, and we had to open our suitcases to return them, giving us the unpleasant feeling of being treated like thieves. In summary, for the price, especially compared to the Bali market, the commercial service and gestures towards customers could be greatly improved. We hope that an effort will be made on this point to ensure the experience meets Jumeirah’s standards.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They are always around and clean the room frequently. The kitchen is spacious with good pans and pots. The place is very quiet and has a nice sunset.

The location is fine if you have a scooter. Walking is impossible, there are no sidewalks. There are only a few restaurants nearby. The worst part was the kitchen, which is why my rating is low. It was very dirty, always full of food, not vegetarian-friendly, with rusty cutlery and an old, smelly sponge (we bought one for ourselves). Cooking there was very unpleasant. The trash can had no bag, so it just got emptied and then filled with flies and smell. Despite being convenient for cooking, it was very unpleasant. The price-quality ratio is low. We were charged $30, but later found out it should have been $20. It’s fine for $20, but not for $30. During our 10-day stay, the water went out twice. There was also a bit of a bad smell in the bathrooms. The WiFi in the rooms is poor; you have to go to the common area for a good connection.

  • Manulalu B&B

    Bajawa, Indonesia

    Average review score: 8.2

Beautiful location with sweeping views. The b&b has a very quaint and quirky feel - with comfortable beds and warm bedding. Located close to local traditional villages and Malanage hot springs.

We felt the price is overall quite expensive for the quality of the room and what is included - barely warm water in shower, damp smelling room. At a minimum, free refillable water and access to tea/coffee should be provided at the b&b given the price. 1 small bottle per person and a shared kettle in common room is provided, but there was only 1 teacup and no tea/coffee. Small things like a lamp for side table would also be good.

Beautiful place with amazing views, refreshing pool and helpful staff. We were able to drop our bags off following an early flight and chill at the pool until our room was ready. Beautiful sunsets!

The breakfast! It was awful! They serve Asian breakfast and as for the western breakfast, there are only couple of breads, two jams and one type of cheese! They are quite expensive compared to other hotels as they provide breakfast but it was super disappointing for us as there were nothing that we can have for breakfast. I bought myself a jar of Nutella to have it for breakfast. The cleanliness of the restaurant, forks and knives is terrible. I talked with them directly and they apologised but it was a 10 days trip which started very disappointing every day.

The location and outlook were great. Staff very friendly.

The whole place was sadly underwhelming, it looked and felt very dated. We had been in Bali for a couple of weeks already and the hotels had been great, each one looked fresh and clean and up to date with multi use plugs for charging phones etc, this room had 1 multi plug in the living room area. All in all not the 5 star I was hoping for.

Was forced to pay for the stay twice as Booking.com had already taken money out with proof on both booking.com and my bank account saying the money had been deducted, yet the staff were adamant that it wasn’t payed for, after a long flight and at a very late time was not impressed at all. Now I’m going to have to wait about a month for the money to come back to me, quite disappointed
