The view is exceptional. You immediately feel welcome and everybody is extremely friendly. You soon realize that this hotel is a family business and everybody is trying to make your stay as good as possible. We looked forward to the varying and high quality breakfast every day. If we visit Crete the next time, we certainly are going to book this hotel again.

We liked everything. The villa has it all, very comfortable and well equipped. It is cleaned, the kitchen has everything we needed and Sophia and Chris were very responsive to everything we asked. The location is great as well and parking is comfortable which is important. .

The breakfast is terrible. There is no breakfast anyway. The rooms are so small you can't even breathe. You can't sleep at night because of killing mosquitoes.

After staying 4 nights at Gundari , we can safely say this hotel should not have opened its doors for at least another year, if not longer. The facilities, although nice to look at, have almost no actual use. Something as simple and absolutely necessary like electricity (and therefore WiFi and water in this case) in the hotel doesn’t work (no cell coverage on that part of the island either). It isn’t acceptable to pay upwards of 850€ per night for a room/hotel where the power goes off at least 20 times a day, including during the night, every single night, where a very annoying emergency light lights up the whole room and disturbs even the deepest of sleeps. The room itself is ok, decor is nice enough but in the photos online one can’t really see that once you come out of your room towards your “private” pool (which is supposed to be private but you can see staff walking around the area continuously), half of the view are cables, which could’ve been better disguised. Even reaching this hotel is another unacceptable journey, which wasn’t communicated and is not part of the website or all of the press reviews that have been posted until now, which only makes me think that they have been paid for, as they are not truly reflective of the reality, which is a 10min drive through a unpaved road, where it feels like you’ve been put through a washing machine every time. Not luxurious AT ALL, to say the least! The breakfast is sparse and lacking plenty more options. The staff, although trying hard to be nice, is not up to the standard you would expect at this price level, often forgetting orders and getting things wrong. Not to mention witnessing some of the staff talking badly about guests at the reception, or the general manager having “meetings” in the middle of the reception area, all very unprofessional and removes the feeling of bliss one should have in the hotel.

The fact a man was smoking cannabis on his balcony and it was that strong it was coming into the room into the air conditioning in the room . Made me feel very sick and are clothes smelt of cannabis
