Did a walking tour with Victor Perez. Of old town. It was great. Though disappointed that I bought what I thought was a genuine Panama hat. It was ruined after one rainfall. 2nd time buying a hat in Panama. 😟 I recommend his tour. A bit expensive though for what you get. I'm sure it was because I was his only guest and it poured rain. I ate dinner round the corner from hotel. Started with a T. Great service and the best steak I had in 5 months in Panama. 😊
The first time in Panama the canal in operation was fantastic. The city is of two halves and small enough to walk the sights. Ask for taxi prices before you agree the ride. Fabulously clean city. Shallow beaches for families.
Ancon Hill was one of the best parts of our trip. The museum at Panama Viejo was great and very informative if you're looking to historical information on the city.
The best of Panamá was to link with the story of the chines migration. I oved that museum. And the best to walk again and again in the Casco viejo. Berny my friend was such a great guide. I love Panama.
Playa Coronado is one of the best places in Panama to go if you really want to disconnect from city and take some time to recharge. We went to Casablanca house that is kind of a residential area with security gates and inside the houses most of them have their own personal pool, grocery stores and the beach is 10 minutes walking.
My tour of the old town with Andre my tour guide. Fantastic knowledge and showed me how both the rich and poor lived in Panama and the history from 1600’s to present day.
Decent stopover for a few hours while flying with Copa Airlines (Panama flag carrier). Landed at 5am. Departed again at 6:30pm. Realistically I had 6am-3pm to sightsee Panama. You could also (as I did) book a hostel bed for a few hours before sightseeing Panama Canal. Call / Message ahead. The hostel staff may not be accustomed to the sight of red-eye flights travellers showing up at their doors at 6:30am, wondering why the heck this person says he/she is checking-in at that hour... Miraflores Locks (close to Panama City): 15 USD admission, with a small but good museum and a promo film on-site. There is a cafe on-site if you are inclined to sit by the balcony looking at the canal. Other than that, the old city has more things for tourists to see. Food options range from the over 20 USD menus in fancier places to the cafeteria choices under 8 USD. Surprisingly, the low-rise buildings in the old town are occasionally a wreck (roofs, windows, walls collapsed) --- it really is a lot by lot, owner by owner difference. Sights are mostly churches, old colonial buildings, a coastal park surrounded by a coastal vehicular causeway. This part of town is still more aesthetically more pleasing than other neighbourhoods mixing 2-storey houses with skyscrapers. It's really hard to fit everything from 50m away in the same photographic frame if one unit is 2-storey and the other is 20-storey. Trump tower (now renamed, apparently) is in a different part of the city. Never found out if it has an observation deck. If the answer is no, give it a miss. Note that US Dollars and Panama Balboas are used interchangeably. That is fine while you are in Panama, but the US does not take Balboas... Spend your Balboas first.
The old city of Casco Viejo was worth a wander around with its rich collection of colonial buildings. Many have been restored or are in the process of being restored (which meant we couldn’t enter a few such as the Cathedral.) There were a number of interesting museums to visit and a couple of nice plazas with restaurants and bars. We caught a bus out to Miraflores Lock with its viewing platform across the Panama Canal and museum of the canal. We also caught a bus to the Museum of Biodiversity (BioMuseo) on the Causeway. It was surprisingly well done and very interesting. We caught buses from Albrook Terminal which has buses covering the entire city.
There are lots of affordable hotels and restaurants all over the city. Tantalo (rooftop bar) was lovely and the people were generally quite friendly. The Panama Canal tour is a must. Watch out for the heat/humidity as it is intense.
My father was a soldier there what do United States Army in 1943 and I got to go to Ft. Sherman to see where he was stationed and I did see the Panama Canal and which he told me at one time he guarded the locks
This is a good hotel in central Panama City. Great value compared to an air b&b and the staff is very attentive to your needs. Rooms are cleaned and refreshed daily, breakfast was good with variety, tons of restaurant options and lovely city views. There is also a solid gym and spa which was well used during our stay. On the 2nd night we had an electirical issue which was promptly dealt with and to our surprise we were treated to a complimentary bottle of wine with cheese and fruit platter. No complaints on this one.
Panama City
This is honestly THE place to stay in Panama City. Casco Viejo is an amazing spot with great restaurants and shops all around. We wish we knew about this place earlier in our trip as we would have stayed here all along instead of the initial apartment we rented. This apartment is so new! Huge TV, comfortable beds, kitchen, washer & dryer, gorgeous… it’s perfect and I can’t believe how cheap it was. We hesitated because of the lack of reviews but we’re so glad we rented this place.
There was an issue with the room we booked the day we arrived, The Hotel arranged a similar hotel and arranged the transport to and from the other hotel . The room is more like a large fully equipped condo , even including a dishwasher. Staff is very helpful for any question or request you may have in Panama city. Swimming pool is open long hours and the hotel is situated in a building which has super market , a department store and a French Croissant place.
Panama City
Located in Casco Antiguo near Plaza Herrera, the area is one of best places to stay in Panama City if you enjoy history, culture, art, leisurely strolls, people watching, and amazing international cuisine. Panama City is recognized by UNESCO for its culinary creativity and many of the restaurants contributing to this honor are located in Casco Antiguo. The apartment is very comfortable for 2 to 3 people and pet friendly. We travel with 2 chihuahuas.
I stayed in a one bedroom with a large tv, and equipped with a washer and dryer and full kitchen. The continental breakfast was available, but there's always the option to cook other meals and keep snacks for an evening in. The location was in the heart of Panama City with ease of movement in the Cangrejo area on foot or by train, bus, or taxi to other parts of the city.
(On arrival at airport, shuttle was no where to be seen after a long wait. We took a taxi to the Hotel.) If the "shuttle schedule" would be posted online, that would be helpful. We DID take the shuttle bact to the airport the next day for our flight to David, Panama. THe shuttle schedule WAS POSTED AT THE HOTEL :) Small menu at the restaurante, all was good:)
I recently stayed at Global Hotel Panama in Panama City’s center and had a great experience. The location is excellent, close to many attractions and nightlife. The hotel is well-kept, with comfortable and spacious rooms. The staff were professional and helpful, always ready to assist. The amenities, including the pool and on-site restaurant, were very good.
The Hotel was spotless, the breakfast had a nice selection, and the pool was clean. I felt safe in this hotel because even though the access to the rooms was next to the front reception you still needed your electronic key to unlock the door. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit Panamá City yet keep their stay cost effective.
My girlfriend and I had a 12 hour layover in Panama City and decided to stay here instead of the airport. One of the best decisions of my trip to Costa Rica, Jhon and staff greeted me at 22:00 and were extremely accommodating. The location was amazingly located right in the central of casco viejo. Would 11/10 recommend this hotel!
Room is clean and ample. Location is ideal for both business or leisure travel as it is located central to the business district and the historical area of Via Argentina with its tree-lined streets, parks, cafes, and restaurants. This hotel is located in a modern urban area where many young professionals living in Panama City reside.
Panama City
We had a two-room apartment, both rooms spacious with large, comfortable beds and the character you would hope for from a home once owned by the president of Panama. There was a large deck with comfortable seating, a communal kitchen, a pool, and a wonderful coffee shop/restaurant downstairs that delivered to the rooftop deck.
Excellent location for an overnight near Tocumen airport. Clean. Most importantly, courtesy and professionalism of all employees and staff. Nice assortment of Panama made items in gift shop. Breakfast included and well presented. Everyone I interacted with at the hotel seems very happy to work at the Riande Aeropuerto Hotel.
Panama City
The host was wonderful - very friendly and accommodating. I wish I could have shared the common space, but I was just too worn out from my travels. I stayed here a week ago when I arrived in Panama and immediately booked a room for my return to Panama City. The next time I fly in, I will stay here.
Panama City
It is a great place in the middle of the Panama Viejo (Casca Antigua). A great place next to the parlement and many restaurants. The Appartment is very spacious with good facilities (kitchen, swimming pool etc.). The owner responded very quickly and provided good service for luggage storage
The location was very good - shops and restaurants around, walking distance to cinta costera and to any means if transport. Considering prices in Panama city, the price was fair enough. My room was big as well as the bathroom, WiFi & TV worked properly. There was a fridge in the room.
We had our daughter who had arrived from Canada to meet us in Panama. Asked for A room with a view , the guy at the front desk gave us 5 floor which faced buildings It’s not a busy time at the hotel he could have assigned a room with view . Have stayed there many times .
The Hotel is located in the pedestrian zone very close to the old town. The room was good, but not extraordinary. But what do you ask for for the price. I had a stop over in Panama and for the one night it was absolutely fine. The staff is great and very helpful.
The location is perfect if someone needs a local flight- it's easy to walk to the airport if travel light or 3 dollars for a taxi. I had to pay 2.50 dollars extra for 2 slices of bread (European style) as it's not included in Panamanian breakfast.
Beautiful Hotel, in the center of Panama. Great onsite restaurant, breakfast offered had a variety of food choices. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. First time I could log in to Netflix in a hotel, which I absolutely loved.
A fantastic location for the old town, and surrounded by nice places to eat and drink. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Will definitely stay here again if we’re back in Panama
