Inverness is in a very lovely part of Scotland. The scenery is stunning! Enjoyable to walk around and lots of history to learn about. Close to other sites so a good base for doing day touring from.
Once a city full of history and promising potential, Aberdeen has unfortunately become dull and extremely grey. There were few restaurants and bars to choose from as well as a severe lack in things to do during the day. There were a few museums to visit such as the maritime and tollbooth museum, but the art gallery was closed due to refurbishment plans which have already been delayed by a year. The only inspiring piece of architecture, Marischal college, was closed off to the public and its view had been blocked by a block of uninspiring office style buildings. Union Street, the main road connecting the city, consists of an abundance of random shops, a large majority of which are kept in a bad state. It is a shame that such a city of history, located in one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland has failed to celebrate its history and culture. Considering it has one of the most international universities it seems strange that the city does not want to promote itself to the abundance of those visiting and living in it every year. As a resident of Scotland myself, I am disappointed that Aberdeen has become such a dull and uninspiring place.
A pleasant hotel out in the country but within easy reach of Aberdeen. The staff were friendly, helpful and well informed. The accommodation was comfortable and with character, well maintained and clean. I would recommend Maryculterhouse as a stop over for the ferry or for a longer stay as a base to explore this area of Scotland.
Oban is beautiful, you can visit all the islands in Scotland from there.if you have a car castle stalker a must .if you are thisty and hungry ,the weatherspoons pub on the harbour.
I originally came from Alloa many years ago, but it has changed hugely since then which is to be expected. It is a good place to stay to tour the central area of Scotland with easy road links to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Liked everything . Cafes , museum one of the best in Scotland and free! Recreated Fort commander office a timetravel.. momentous orders signed in this office. A touch of outlander ! Ladies in the charity shop sang us a song! So friendly! Tandoori restaurant very good.
If you go to Jedburgh go early in the day. We didn’t get there until 3pm It was a Monday. We could have gone into the Abby but decided to have a coffe in a lovely cafe in a car park below the Abby. We then went to find our bed and breakfast stay which was down a country farm road. We went back to Jedburgh to find somewhere to eat and drink but everything except a couple of hotels was closed. This was at 4.30 We walked around and looked through the windows of the town and it was very Earie as there was no one about. We ended up buying fish and chips at a take away, we then found next door the only pub/bar opposite the Abby. No time to go back the next day, as we were driving to Scotland, so a bit of a wasted journey.
I liked it all! Love this area 0f Scotland! This was my fourth visit to Kyle of Lochalsh! It will not be the last, I’ll be back soon! Stunning scenery, sometimes dark & brooding, in a word , so diverse!
Oban is stunning. A perfect central point for touring the West coast of Scotland. There is so much history and culture involved in this region you can't help falling in love with it. They have a train station a ferry port and airport. A really good bus and taxi service.
Forget Inveraray. Head down the loch to the Creggans Inn. If the weather is decent sit outside and watch the boats glide by. This is a gem of a place. I adore the West Coast of Scotland.
We stayed at the Highland Bridge Hotel just two days after the Pub downstairs was opened. We really enjoyed our time there, as we had the opportunity to chat to locals and have a few drinks with them. It is a 20-30 minute drive to Fort William but if it is food you crave there are a few restaurants nearby. The rooms where nice and clean and the beds were REALLY comfy. Breakfast was delicious as well. Andre and his team were all really friendly and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely go back there the next time we visit Scotland!!
Lerwick
I stayed at Craigielea Apartment 3 for 5 nights with my husband and dog. It was a perfect base for exploring Shetland and conveniently located close to the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants in Lerwick. Lerwick is a lovely town - one of the prettiest and most charming in Scotland. The apartment is really stylish, comfortable and well-equipped. It’s also super cosy, if the weather takes a turn for the worst outside. I can’t recommend the place more highly. The owners were lovely too, very helpful and friendly.
Hotel is very close to the airport. Front desk will contact a reliable cab service that will show up at 3am to accommodate your unreasonable early flight home. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are large. Bathrooms first class. We also booked this hotel as our landing place for our inbound international flight to Scotland. Our advice is to call Renfrewshire Cabs yourself 0141 887 7770 for both ends of your trip - there is a back route to and from the airport, and thee guys know it.
The view from the room was wonderful, staff was friendly and helpful, the dinner was very good and the hot tub an awesome bonus. The bus stops right in front of the property which made it super easy for us to get to and depart from Glencoe. The Hotel is a great starting place for hikes around the area. The restaurant had hands down the best food on our Scotland trip and the staff was very lovely. Breakfast was alright and offered good choices, best part lake views during all meals.
I liked everything about the Firth. Location was excellent, my room had a wonderful view over the beach, the staff were polite & friendly, & very accommodating to my needs as i have a medical need, they listened to what kind of foods that i could & couldn't eat, & amended the menu for me with no problems at all. I would highly recommend the Firth Hotel to anyone looking for a quiet & relaxing break, in a very beautiful part of Scotland.
Stornoway
One of the most beautiful stay in Scotland we have ever been. And if we could we would absolutely come back as soon as possible. The perfect location just outside the Stornoway makes it ideal place to visiting LaH. Apartment was soo clean, cosy and perfect for living. We could imagine to live here permanentely. Big thanks belongs to owner, she left for us some welcome pack which was sweet! Really big thank you for everything. Hope we could get back soon! ♥
This was our second stay, breaking our journey into Highland Scotland and is ideal location just over the border and close to major routes. Hotel is small enough to be friendly but large enough to have a lovely bar and restaurant. The food is gorgeous with plenty of choice. Breakfast is also very tasty. Staff are all very friendly and can't do enough for you. We will look to spend a couple of nights here soon to explore the local area.
Delighted to enjoy 2 night stay at this family owned and run hotel. Friendly welcome from helpful and efficient staff, and great to meet the owners over a drink in lively bar on the Friday night. Breakfast outstanding, and breakfast team very efficient. Ideal for us attending a wedding at Turin Castle, and would be ideal for anyone touring this lovely part of Scotland. We will definitely return to Forfar's Royal Hotel! Thanks to all!
Glasgow City Centre, Glasgow
Perfect apartment in a perfect location. Perfect owner. Excellent location with ease to enter and stay. Very secure Everything about this place was charming, comfortable and lovely. The owner was the most gracious person we got to meet in Scotland. Put a sweet touch of decor in the place to make it homey. The kitchen was amazing and stocked as if it were your own place. I will certainly stay here in the future visits. It felt like home
Hotel receptionist was great! Let us check our bags in early. (good to drop off our packs!) Gave us accurate info for train and bus station. Hotel is out of town with a pretty view of the water and boats. Room was clean/comfortable and had an actual fan to cool the room as it was sunny/warmer than usual in Scotland! Breakfast was ok, good coffee was welcome. Hotel is a bit of a maze, but well marked to find way around.
A complete dump. It was pretty gross all around. The headboard had smears, there was a big booger on the closet (no joke) and dust from months under the heater. Carpets were gross. Toilet couldn’t flush. You get the picture… dump! It is very obvious that no one cares about the cleanliness or up keep. We were very excited to be in Scotland however, the hotel was a HUGE disappointment!!
The Hotel had a friendly, relaxed feel to it. Our room was very clean, spacious with a wonderful view that I had requested. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food in restaurant was delicious with excellent service. The included breakfast was also great, the only place in Scotland over a few weeks where I was offered kippers in the breakfast menu, they were truly delicious!
The house is just beautiful! The family that runs the Hotel has every single detail taken care of. A wonderful experience. We stayed here by coincidence since it was in our way back to England from our Holidays in Scotland and it couldn't have ended better. Rooms and bathroom are large, breakfast delicious. Staff super helpful and bonus: the place has a great history.
Hotel was older (as in vintage) but clean and the proprietor was incredibly nice and accommodating (no pun intended). We had a diverted flight from Ireland to Scotland and had booked a room at 2am so very inconvenient to the hotel, but not only did they get us booked in quickly, scrounged for fruit first is you ready since we were starving... Much appreciated! 👍👍👍👍
Oban
The gardens were beautiful, the suite was very room, quaint, and full of charm! We’ve stayed at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and would choose the Glencruitten House every every time! Seyward was exceptional with communicating our check in time and made to order breakfast. We’ve been in England and Scotland for two weeks and by far this has been our favorite place!
The Loch Ness Clansman Hotel was quite a pleasant experience. The food was tasty, and the service was top-notch. The impressive selection of whisky truly made me believe that Scotland is the Land of Whisky. While the rooms were on the smaller side, they were comfortable and cozy. A great stay overall. This hotel is genuinely for Loch Ness enthusiasts.
Beautiful relaxing evening after a long day travelling. Room very comfortable with easy chairs, good lighting and plenty of space. Bathroom particularly roomy. We had dinner and it was exceptional, well cooked and nicely presented. All in all a lovely stop off to start our few days holiday in Scotland. We will come back to Bridge of Cally Hotel again.
We had a great stay at Schiehallion Hotel. All members of staff were friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The room was superb. Restaurant had good quality food with great vegan options for dinner and breakfast. Aberfeldy is a lovely place with lots of local walks and very centrally located for visiting a wide area of Scotland.
Newton Stewart
Very welcoming staff in all departments, working very hard in these post 'lockdown' times. We had an evening meal on all 3 nights we stayed and were happy with the quality and price of the food. The Crown Hotel makes the ideal base for exploring The South West of Scotland. Very happy to recommend this friendly establishment.
Beautifully decorated hotel with helpful staff. Lovely room with a turret at Bank House, which is next door to The Scotland Spa Hotel. Great facilities in main hotel with a lovely pool, sauna and steam room. Breakfast fabulous and plentiful. Clean and well presented, and everyone very friendly and welcoming. Will come back.
