The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.

Definitely need to visit Vecchia - even few times, there is a lot of small streets, places there, also local food - extremely tasty.
Beach at Polignano a Mare - can go there by train - need to visit, beach is rocky in ground, but in the shade due to rocks on both sides, not so many people how I was expecting.
Lots of very good food, but Restaurant: Magda on Via Prospero Petroni, 32 - is something just need to visit and eat there - we were there 2 times
Alberobello - to be honest - I would not recommend - we went there by bus and tickets were quite expensive (15 EUR - one way for 3 persons) - for example comparing to Polignano a Mare train (7,5 EUR - one way for 3 persons (kid 7 years old don't need ticket)), 1hour - one way and the only thing is there are trulli houses - they are nice, but I think not spectacular comparing to effort and bus tickets :D
From airport to Bari center - we took bus number '16' - it is only 1 EUR per person - need to pay by cash (7 years old kid also don't need ticket)

Bari is such a great mix of historic and modern.
Bari is such a great mix of historic and modern. It is an easy city to arrive in by both train or flight, and it is easy to walk around every vital area of the city. I think it is a good location to use as a hub to visit other cities in the Puglia region, but you might get tired of the same streets and shops.
2 days is a perfect stay in my opinion!

Bari is a really beautiful city, it has clear streets and is also conveniently divided into an old (historical) part and a new, modern one. The people are more than friendly, the cuisine is great. We had no problem with either the staff or the locals. The prices are reasonable and the climate great. Thanks to the proximity to the sea, the air is not hot and dry, but pleasant. The combination of swimming and town is great.

Bari is more beautiful than Miami Beach and has advantage of being far away from Ron DeSantis. The food is superb the people are friendly and it’s not over touristed like Florence. But that could change fast so I would visit soon.

We visited Bari just for half a day, before going to the airport. I wish we stayed longer because the city is beautiful!! We walked around the old city centre and visited Basilica di San Nicola - incredible interiors, worth a quick visit.
Then we wondered around the Bari Vecchia area, and had a nice aperitivo in one of the many lovely bars you can find. We went to MercantileNove, in Mercantile square, they have a good selection of local wines and tapas.
We also recommend a quick visit to the design space and cultural centre called Spazio Murat in Piazza del Ferrarese 1, an historic palace transformed into a contemporary art space. You can also buy some beautiful interior design objects, crafted by local artists.
We then concluded our visit slowly walking along the beautiful street Via Sparano da Bari, which leads straight to the main train station Bari Centrale, and the smaller train station (to the right of the main) where trains leave for the airport.

Bari is prettier than I expected, cleaner and more open.
Bari is prettier than I expected, cleaner and more open. The old town is charming to wander in and the castle and churches very interesting. With the waterfront is is an attractive place to spend a few days. It was very hot when we visited , though.
Attentiveness, hospitality, and huge helpfulness on the part of the hosts. Stylish, beautiful room and old, but fully renovated house with elevator. Comfortable, clean apartment with balcony, met our expectations to the maximum. We can only recommend it to everyone, if you want to see Bari or just you want to swim/relaxing on the beach, the distance between the accomodation and the city centre is few hundred meters, the "Pane e Pomodoro" beach is only few km by bus (about 10 stop).
The best thing about the hotel is its location near the airport and free shuttle bus from and to the airport. We came to Bari and spend there two nights, we have been pick up from the airport and then give us the ride to airport where we pick up the rental car. The railway station is 10 minutes walk. There is nice swimming pool. The breakfats wa ok.
Our time with 4RoomsBari is certainly up there among the best stays we've had. It's excellent in every point we look for in a hotel and they have exceeded our expectations.
Really in the town centre, yet only 5-10 mins. away from main train station and a pleasant walk to all major sights and restaurants.
Highly recommended!!!
The location of the hotel is perfect. Situated in the old town of Bari with many nice shops and restaurants. The room was clean, very comfortable. Nice breakfast. Rita is an exceptional host. She went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
