The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.
Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.
If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.
Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

Istanbul is the perfect city for someone wishing to take a glimpse into a vibrant, historical city with a lot to offer. My solo stay of 5 days allowed me to tour the Old City seeing the famous Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque.
The Fatih District has the Fatih Gate, Kariye Cami (Chora Church) and the Theodossian Walls. The Taksim Square area along with walking down Istiqlal Jadesi towards Galata Tower was also very pleasant. The ferry rides across the Bosphorus are a must.
The one place I would recommend people to steer clear of is the Grand Bazaar. Haggling shopkeepers, scammers, packed with tourists, cheap goods at hiked rate is not an experience people enjoy.

Istanbul is a fantastic city.
Istanbul is a fantastic city. We were in summer, it was hot, there was a crowd, but we still enjoyed every moment. Public transportation is great and cheap, there are long lines at the monuments, but you don't have to wait long because everything is well organized.
I loved that there are cats and dogs everywhere, and Turkish people don't hurt them, on the contrary, they take care of them. The city is very lively, bustling, huge. There are long distances, but it is worth walking a lot, because you can always discover something interesting along the way. You must also go to the Asian side, because it is not so tourist-centric, and therefore has a completely different atmosphere.
What I didn't like: in a place full of tourists, the vendors and restaurateurs are a bit pushy. And finally, it's hard to bear the amount of garbage everywhere.

Istanbul is an incredible city to visit.
Istanbul is an incredible city to visit. The people are friendly and my family of four always felt safe - although there are warnings about pickpockets especially in the crowded bazaars. Shop-keepers can be pushy so you need to prepared to ignore them as you walk past. The food was great (try a food tour). Old Town is the main attraction (can pretty much walk everywhere) although the New Town is a good place to walk around for quieter shops and restaurants. The Asian part of Istanbul is mainly residential - worth a visit for maybe 1/2 day. We hired a private boat tour - well worth it. We were also able to hire someone for the day to take us around Old Town for $250 - do that early on to get bearings and the guide can help you get into the main sights while missing the lines. Great place to buy leather goods (haggle over prices - few things in the bazaars have prices on them). Turkish delight in Istanbul is very different to Turkish delight you can buy at home! Make sure taxis use their meters.

We did a lovely walking tour and secret food tour.
We did a lovely walking tour and secret food tour. Learned a lot about the food and history. The bit that was a disappointment was that it feels that the city is trying to rip off tourists. We paid $9 for a small ice cream and later paid less that £1 for the same size at a local shop. Taxi drivers try and take advantage of tourist. People in restaurants and at the grand bazaar keep on following you to try and convince you to go into their shop. Istanbul can be a fantastic destination but they will need to do something that give tourists space to make their own choices
I strongly recommend Weingart Hotel, first of all, because of the staff behavior - Mr. Dovlet was wonderful and very helpful, he answered our requests and tried his best to make our stay a memorable one. Many thanks also to Mr. Tayfun! The location is a very good one - next to Galata Tower, to tram station (between Karakoy and Tophane), short distance to Taksim Square and easily to reach Sultanahmet area. The breakfast was diversified and tasty. It is not luxury accommodation, but comfortable and pleasant.
We stayed for 3 days at this hotel and are very glad we chose it! The room was very clean, with new furniture and a cozy atmosphere. The friendly staff helped us with all our inquiries, from transportation to restaurant reservations. The hotel has a great location, making it convenient to get to Taksim Square and then take a bus to the airport. The breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend this hotel; we have other experiences in Istanbul at the same price, and this one is outstanding.
Hamza is the best!!!! He was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. He was very kind to help us book our night bus to Cappadocia, book our hamam (which is a great recommendation from him as well), and arrange for our taxi going to bus station.
Rooms are nice and clean too! Our favorite part is the high pressure hot shower and the location (located center and close to a lot of tourist attractions in Istanbul).
Will definitely come back and stay in this same hotel. 5/5 stars🌟
Everything was perfect, our stay at the element garden was one of the best things in our trip , the location is awesome in a calm street few minutes walk from Taksim square , rooms very clean with the necessary equipment we even cooked there and could eat in the hotel’s garden , the staff were extremely nice and helpful especially Ella who was preparing very good breakfasts and was extremely nice , I recommend this hotel for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Istanbul
I enjoyed my two days at this hotel. The location is great. Despite being close to Taksim Square and a 10 min walk from the shuttle bus to Istanbul airport, the street wasn't loud and overcrowded as it was with other places I came across. The staff, especially Elchin was quite friendly and professional.
