Great to walk around, but the closest “busy area” is severely touristy. Full of the sort of restaurants that never get repeat business so don’t really need to care. It was hard to find somewhere good to eat, but we did (= Mazzarini). Oh, and skip the Nobel Prize museum. It really doesn’t tell the story well at all.

We took a full day archipelago trip with Stromma - great!
We took a full day archipelago trip with Stromma - great! I recommend at least one trip by boat - there are a lot of cheap ferries to choose from. One fare takes you a long way.
We also took a trip to see the Viking remains at Sigtuna - well worth while. The guides on both trips were very enthusiastic and highly recommended.
The palace is worth at least half a day, and the Vasa museum is great to visit. We missed seeing the parliament, though. Just wandering round the Old Town is perfect, and a drink by the habour was a great end to the day.

We loved Stockholm.
We loved Stockholm. The public transport is so joined up you can get anywhere by train, bus, tram or boat. We did the touristy stuff like vasa and Abba and the royal palace but we also went off the beaten track and found the 1912 Olympic stadium and the tennis club where Bjorn Borg had learnt his trade. The old town was beautiful, the changing of the guards a real treat. Everywhere you can hear Abba playing. It is an expensive destination, so be aware, but if you plan you can do a visit on a budget.
We spent 2 nights at the hotel and it has all recommendations from our side. The receptionist staff will give you all instructions if you arrive out of the working hours. We had a clear and accurate instruction for entering the hotel. The food was delicious with a wide range of products. We really enjoyed it! The location is very close to the old city and you can reach it in less than 10 minutes. The staff is kind and always at your disposal. I will choose again this hotel if I come to Stockholm. All the best and keep doing a good job!
The Breakfast in the THON-Hotels is worth the money as everywhere in the THON-Hotels in Scandinavia.
I can recommend it. It's most of the time the decision maker to go for the THON-Hotel.
In addition, the location directly beside the Stockholm Central Stration is an advantage too.
The service by the team was very friendly, I enjoyed it (esp. as I forgot to ask for the tax-correct invoive).
My correct invoice was sent by e-mail without any complication - best thanks for this service.
The Frantz Hotel was recommended by a friend living in Stockholm, although had never stayed. It was perfect, in fact, she joined us for dinner in the restaurant downstairs on our last night and was blown away. No doubt she will mention it to other visitors. The bed/pillows were exceptional, sooooo comfortable, the room was small but perfect in every other way and the buffet breakfast was one of the best we've ever had. Nice cosy bar too. Couldn't fault it. A wonderful week.
Even though the hotel is located a bit further away from Gamla Stan and Skansen the walk to reach those destinations, be it along the channel or through Vasastadten and Norrmalm, is a real treat. The hotel is super clean and it has one of the best breakfast offers I have seen so far, from Miso to pancakes. Great choice when staying in Stockholm.
