At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.
Osaka is very cool place and full of fun things. I usually prefer quiet, peaceful places and inside the city is very hectic but a little outside it is very quiet and peaceful. Some restaurants were very good and others were a little bad, some were tourist traps and others local delicacies. It is very hot during the summer so prepare for that.

Osaka to me was one of the gateway into Japan.
Osaka to me was one of the gateway into Japan. As a big city, it will offer they typical attractions any other city in the world similarly offers. Nevertheless, Osaka stands out as the kitchen of Japan and food haven. For those who prefer to experience and explore scenic nature surroundings and related activities, one night in Osaka is sufficient.

So much to do!
So much to do! The food was amazing and we especially enjoyed the Osaka Aquarium. We were able to take a day trip to Nara with ease which was magical, and once you figured out the fares the subway system was so convenient.

i can't explain it but the vibe of the city is so nice?
i can't explain it but the vibe of the city is so nice? i went from tokyo to kyoto to osaka, and osaka really did it for me.
i went to dotonbori, which i think is the main attraction in the city. i also went to the castle, the inside being a museum about the emperor who built it, really worth a visit.
i also spent a bit of time in shinsekai, though most of the stores were closed despite going at 11am :I
and of course, the infamous universal studios, i recommend taking a fast-line pass or however it's called, cause as good as the attractions are and as awesome as the park is, staying a whole day and spending half of it in the queue isn't the best way to go at it.
overall, though there are not much overly touristy things to see, i think it's a very nice place to be and i'd recommend a five-day stay!

The bustling city of Osaka is very awesome .
The bustling city of Osaka is very awesome . Our hotel , Cross Hotel , is very near Dotonbori Bridge with the Famous Glico man and Biggest Crab Restaurant . It is also few steps away from the famous Shinsaibashi Shopping District. So many delicious Osaka foods . Okanomiyaki , Hot pot sukiyaki , etc
Location was superb! A very short walk from the Airport Limo bus stop at Namba Station. Prominent signage of OIOI always guided us back to the hotel with ease. There were covered shopping streets in all directions just steps from the the front door. Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, Hozenji Temple, Sennichimae all within very short walking distances. Proximity to Namba Station and its multiple train lines provided access to all of Osaka. So many dining options in the surrounding neighborhood, we ran out of days to eat everything we desired!
Best hotel we’ve stayed at in Osaka! It is super well-located, right in the middle of Dotonbori, next to Namba station. Right opposite is a great craft beer and cider bar - highly recommend! The hotel features a lot of cool designs and even though the rooms are small, as is typical for Osaka, it is well-laid out and didn’t feel cramped at all. The traditional bento box breakfast was very tasty. All in all great value for money.
Stayed for one night. Facilities were new or maintained. Beds were comfy and view was fantastic. Loved japanese style bath in hotel room. Located close to shin osaka station where I could easily walk during the rain.
Best breakfast I had in Osaka hotels. Will stay here again next time.
The Cross Hotel was the best value hotel during our three week Japan trip. It is located adjacent to Dotonbori, the heart of Osaka and easy walking. Perfect location to transport at Namba Station giving you easy access to Nara and Kyoto. Really enjoyed our stay at the Cross Hotel.
