The food in the Brasserie was very disappointing.
We ordered the stuffed Salmon with a fish cake, and the salmon portion was the size of a fish finger.

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.
Accommodation in Killarney on Booking.com includes 5-star lakeside hotels, B&Bs near the train station and town centre guest houses. All with that trademark Irish hospitality.
Killarney is beautiful and very walkable. We loved the adorable town and quick access to the Ring of Kerry and related attractions . Unfortunately the day we scheduled ourselves to see it, we had bad weather. We instead went to Dingle Peninsula where the weather cleared and had a lovely day. Dingle peninsula is not that far away.

Busy town with lots of facilities (shops, restaurant and "bars").
Important to carry out research on best activities (both value & entertainment) together with quality of service and food provided in restaurants.

We visit Killarney about 8 times a year as it is our favorite destination for short breaks. The national park has endless beautiful walks to enjoy. The town itself has a great lively buzz about it and we have always felt safe walking around it. Great selection of bars and restaurants to choose from .

The busy part of Killarney is full of excellent restaurants,...
The busy part of Killarney is full of excellent restaurants, and a million shops. It was challenging to find room in popular restaurants, especially on the weekend. We went out of our way to find a spot at the end of the thoroughfare, but the food and music was excellent, so it worked out. Lots of places play Irish music, but some play Country Western for some reason. Gino's Gelato is a chain, which turned me off at first until I realized it's intensely delicious gelato. Better than any other I had in Ireland. The Ring of Kerry is minutes away by car, and one of the main things I want to do when returning to Ireland (someday) is to spend a day or two driving the full ring of Kerry. Stunning views. Amazing finds.
