Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly coloured shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which offers an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.
Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

So many things to do to keep kids entertained.
So many things to do to keep kids entertained. We went to Aran Islands, Aquarium, Fun Fair, Silver Strand Beach, Cinema, Leisureland, arcades, stroll along the promenade, lots of restaurants to choose from, had a great curry at Kashmir, towards the City. Also planning on doing the VR experience at the Galmont Hotel, as part of the Galway Film Fleadh week. A hidden gem on the West Coast.

Galway is a cute little town with great people and tons of great live music around. We were there for one evening and half a day and it was perfect. It also makes an excellent home base is you play to go see Kylemore Abbey and other country side attractions around there.

We chose Galway as our base for the daytrips to the Cliffs of Moher and Kylemore Abbey. We walked around in Galway in the evenings and had dinner at various restaurants. Galway is a lovely city. If we ever go back to Galway, we will choose another hotel, as we were not pleased with the one we booked. Very low standard and an awful room with no ventilation and terrible view.

A wonderful little beach town that feels pleasantly removed from the rest of the world - but the high street is quite bustling with visitors, primarily from elsewhere in Ireland but also from many other countries. Every other pub - of which there are many - has live music, and talented musicians play day and night on the street outside.
Stop by Prátaí for a quintessential irish chip shop experience that also features creative seasonings and sauces for the more adventurous palette. Stroll through the Claddagh for incredible views of Galway Bay, or walk up the Greenway along the River Corrib to watch the anglers at their craft in the water.
Beautiful hotel in a great location just a few minutes drive from galway city centre and salthill. The staff were so friendly and the whole hotel Is child friendly. Our kids spent 1.5 hours upstairs yesterday evening watching a movie in the friendly fellows club. Gave mammy and daddy some time to enjoy the great music in the bar. Will definitely stay here again.
The hotel is recently renovated and very clean. Easy access to the city center.
What is exceptional for us; was the treatment of the staff in special the receptionist Maria and the General Manager Seamus. They were absolutely amazing, helpful and excellent professionals. For sure makes a huge difference to have those people around.
The location in the city center with parking was especially useful to make the best use of time during a short visit. The hotel itself was excellent as was the restaurant. The room was clean, comfortable and well supplied. Irish breakfast was great. The staff were faultless; efficient and friendly.
The rooms are above the pub. Check in is in the bar. Personnel (bartender) was very kind. The room was great. Perfect location close to the city center. Parking js beside the hotel on a public paid carpark. €2 per hour (mon-sat until 6.30 pm)
Comfortable homely mini hotel. The owners, two brothers, are nice people. Always ready to help and fulfill your wishes. Delicious Irish breakfast. You can drink coffee and tea throughout the day. The city center is a 5-minute walk away.
