Clayton Hotel Cork City, hotel in Cork
Overlooking the River Lee and in the heart of Cork City, the Clayton Hotel offers beautifully designed guest rooms, excellent food and the Club Vitae health club with pool, sauna, steam room and gym.
It's a great hotel, Aircon wasn't working but was informed on checking. Room clean and comfortable, just a wee noisy as we had to keep the window open and the traffic.

FAQs about hotels in Cork

Irish Spirit In A Nutshell

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, Cork’s city centre was originally built on marshes and many of its popular streets are constructed on the former river channels. With a thriving nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene, the Irish Republic’s second biggest city is full of surprises.

Those interested in history should pay a visit to the Cork City Gaol, an old prison transformed into one of the city’s most fascinating attractions, or join the Cork Historic Walking Tours, which offer a great opportunity to learn all the city’s secrets.

For those craving more lively entertainment, the city offers the famous Cork City Pub Crawl or even more exciting, the Barrack Street Challenge, where participants drink pints of beer in all bars along Barrack Street.

The shopping area is concentrated around the most famous street - St. Patrick Street. For local food specialities like crubeens, tripe and drisheen, browse bars and restaurants around MacCurtain, Washington and Oliver Plunkett Streets.

When flying to Cork Airport, you’re just a short taxi or bus ride from the lively city centre. Don’t worry about accommodation; Booking.com has plenty on offer, from convenient hotels, to cosy guest houses and bed & breakfasts.

We stayed 2 nights at Cork.

We stayed 2 nights at Cork. Years ago we were planned to move here with my partner, and I am glad that we didn't. We spent only 1 day of visiting Cork. To be honest we were quite surprised that there are not many historical buildings around the city, all buildings are quite grey and we were missing the green from the city. We had a great time, but just because we had a good weather and we planned some boat tours which made our trip more colorful. Be aware that you don't get food after 9 pm, you have to reserve everywhere, it was impossible to find a place to eat after a long day on the sea.

During my visit to Cork, I found the city to be a charming blend of history and modernity. The vibrant cultural scene, friendly locals, and picturesque landscapes made for a delightful experience. However, my stay at the Hatch Rooms was a low point, marred by uncomfortable accommodations and poor value for money. Despite this, Cork's rich heritage, bustling markets, and scenic river views left a lasting impression.

    Short family break.

Short family break. North Main St area was a good place for going out, nice pubs and plenty of nice places to eat. Fota was lovely. Cobh was a great place to visit but there were only a few limited places to eat in on Sun afternoon. Overall Cork was a great, safe, busy place to shop in and go out in at night. Like a city on the continent :-)

Lively city, lots to do, felt safe and there was a great energy. Visited some great bars, had a lovely meal at The Market Place and it was easy to find your way around. Also recommend the short trip to Midleton Distillery just out of the city and easy to get the train.

Cork is a true gem, lovely tourist spots to visit, weather was fabulous. Many good shops, restaurants, take outs, etc. Our accommodation was in lovely Glanmire, close to assessible routes & motorway. We went to our Favourite SuperMacs which was close-by, we visited beautiful Cobh, took a walk on Fota Island & went to Sting concert in Musgrave aka Virgin Media park, traffic was usual, not too bad. Need to plan better for next trip to see more spots & Kinsale. Cork a must visit ~ highly recommended 🇿🇦☘️💚🇮🇪

The hotel is very well-appointed and, being just outside the city centre of Cork, is less noisy while remaining easily accessible (it is about 12 minutes walk from the rail and ten minutes from the bus station). There is an attached bar/restaurant and attractive patio area. Breakfast is excellent.
