Enjoy everything Newcastle has to offer from this classic hotel in the city centre.
Its location right next to Newcastle central station. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Very good shower. Sports and leisure facilities on site even though my stay was too brief to enjoy them. The fact the windows open and let fresh air in! I hate air conditioning.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Centre, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sport, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodation all over this happening city.

Friendly people its biggest asset! Interesting variety areas including Quayside and bridges over Tyne Chinatown and lovely wooded river valley. Great traditional pubs remains of city walls & castle and some lovely old red brick buildings. Recommend two hundred year old Lit & Phil Library big indoor Grainger Market and the Petting Zoo!

    I enjoyed Newcastle upon Tyne.

I enjoyed Newcastle upon Tyne. It was easy getting around the city. There are lots to see and do in this city. We ate at a number of restaurants, but you have to eat the chicken rasta pasta, and the rasta rice, at Manjaros. It was delish! You must put on your walking shoes, be prepared to walk. I enjoyed a bus ride on the double decker, got to see the neighbourhoods. There is a game room and bowling alley at the Metro Center Mall, we had a good time bowling.

    A bit of a disappointment.

A bit of a disappointment. We had breakfast in the railway station one morning, it was by quite some margin, the worst cooked breakfast I’ve ever had, items missing and others simply unrecognisable. Had an Indian meal another night, similarly grim. There seemed to be a lot of chain restaurants but not much otherwise. Talked to a local in a pub, he told us there’s a lot of shiny bars for the young and us older ones go elsewhere. Newcastle seems to have gone big into craft beers in the city centre but real ale was hard to find. We got a day ticket and did a circuit, stopped at Whitley Bay, Dirty Habits £3.05/pint. Best place there was Amsterdam Cafe. Another good place was the Left Luggage Room at the next station along from Whitley Bay, it’s actually on the platform.

I am not a fan of cities but Newcastle is a good central place to stay. It's own night life, an abundance of Gregg's but also easy access to places like the coast, Hadrian's Wall, Durham and a good place to simply explore Northumberland. Good transport links particularly the Metro that links Newcastle with coast and Sunderland.

The location is perfect. Straight opposite the train station in Newcastle city centre. The room was clean and well appointed. The car park at the train station is the place to park. I arrived at 1430 hrs and left on Sat morning around 10 am, and it was £12.00. The car park has cctv and payment is by card as you leave . The hotel is well equipped with conference rooms and lifts.

My family and I regularly stay at this hotel when visiting Newcastle. In fact, collectively, this was the 3rd visit this year - so we must like it! Excellent location for city centre. Parking on site is always a plus. Staff is the main are friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff on our last morning were fantastic considering there was no water due to a burst pipe.
