A Feast for the Senses
A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.
Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

An amazing place to visit with something for everyone.
An amazing place to visit with something for everyone. Unlike other major cities, it does not feel overwhelming but it also does not feel too small. There are many areas of the city to visit but my recommendation is to first take a bus tour to gather your bearings of the city while also providing an in-depth overview of the city (which for architecture and history enthusiasts is a must). I would recommend city sightseeing (located at St Andrew's Square) the green tour which is a live commentary of the Old and New Town.
For dinner, I would recommend the Amarone Edinburgh, Bubba Q, Boozy Cow. For something a bit more high-end The Ivory on the Square or the Dome for afternoon tea or dinner.
Edinburgh is very easy to get around either by public transport (bus, train, tram, uber) all of which make transport easy. A travel tip for getting to and from Edinburgh Airport is to use the Airlink Bus throughout the night and until 8 am, then use the tram during the day.
Another great aspect of Edinburgh is the amount of green spaces. The Royal Botanic Gardens, the Meadows, Arthur's Seat, Holyrood Park, Salisbury Crags, Princess Street Gardens and Inverlieth Park are local favourites. All of which, are well worth a visit on a great day.
For picture-perfect spots, tourists must visit Dean's Village, Carlton Hill, Arthur's Seat, Water of Leith Walkway, Greyfriars Bobby (the most photographed dog in Scotland), Victoria Street, and catch a sunset from Edinburgh Castle or New Collage. Travel Tip: is to spend some time checking out Stockbridge and checking out Circus Lane. The combination of cobbled streets and architectural masterpieces make Edinburgh one of the most photogenic places in the UK.
Edinburgh is well worth a visit because there a very few cities in the world quite like Edinburgh.

Edinburgh is a nice and beautiful place beyond my expectations. The city centre is much tinier than London where I visited before traveling Edinburgh. Therefore, I could walk around by myself and fully enjoy the beautiful scenery. People there are kind with lovely Scottish accents, food is scrumptious(must try Fudge and Haggis!), the ambience is quite special.

But it was our first time at the Ibis Style.
We had a couple of good meals: lunch at Amarone nearby which was most enjoyable and dinner at Browns.

Edinburgh is a great city with lots to do in terms of sightseeing and is steeped in history and Scottish culture. Edinburgh castle must be at the top of the agenda for all visitors and a leisurely walk visiting the shops, restaurants and taverns along the Royal Mile are a must. A visit to the Museum of Childhood is a great trip down memory lane remembering some of the games and toys we had as children and its great for kids and adults alike. Best thing is admission is free here which is a bonus.
Lovely small hotel just outside the city centre, with on-site parking.
The owner was lovely and very accommodating (we ended up with a very late check-in due to an impromptu climbing of Ben Nevis). Also very helpful as a travel guide with what to do and where to eat.
Beautiful building and furnishings. Very quaint and spacious room with modern bathroom and excellent shower.
On bus route, so easy access in and out of Edinburgh city centre without the hassles of driving and parking.
Me and my friend have an annual trip to Edinburgh for a couple of nights, and usually use this hotel. It's so close to all restaurants and bars and within walking distance of all of the shops. The Dome is just a short walk away; that's our favourite place for cocktails and food! The station is also just a short walk away, too. Rooms are clean and well maintained, the breakfast is self-service but good enough for a city centre hotel, and the staff are all helpful and friendly.
Great location in the city centre of Edinburgh, so we could walk everywhere. Big parking garage under the shopping center next door (the hotel is actually above the shopping center as well), which is very convenient when you go here by car. The concierge showed us the shortest and easiest way from the hotel to the car park by walking with us, which we thought was great! Comfortable beds and spacious room, overlooking the roof garden and Calton Hill.
It's convenient to get on bus to city centre and airport of Edinburgh, the area has its own community shops and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. Good facilities is offered in the hotel with its restaurant, snack kiosk and best of all is the gym and swiimming pool.
Didn’t have breakfast . Visited family for breakfast . Staff lovely and very helpful. location was great bus service outside hotel ideal for going into city centre of Edinburgh. Plenty little shops restaurants .
