FAQs about hotels in Brighton & Hove

Colourful by Day and Night

Known for colourful nightlife and traditional English seaside pursuits, Brighton and neighbour Hove are the closest beach resorts to London, making them popular end points for classic car runs from the capital. Many end at the racecourse, a few streets from Brighton Marina, Europe’s largest, housing several shops and eateries. Many Brighton guest houses on Booking.com are also nearby.

Running along the beachfront is the world’s oldest operating electric railway, ending by Brighton Pier. Lit up at night and also known as Palace Pier, this city icon houses amusements and rides, and is one place to pick up some famous Brighton Rock, the confectionery sharing its name with an edgy Graham Greene novel set here.

A new addition, the Brighton Wheel is right by the pier, while one of its most famous attractions is the Royal Pavilion, a former royal retreat built in Indian style.

Just west are 2 of the most popular Brighton shopping spots – Churchill Square shopping centre and The Lanes with its narrow streets and unusual shops. This area also has several Brighton hotels with parking, and the Artists Quarter, a series of ex-fishing huts that are now galleries. The arts are a big thing here and Brighton Festival is the UK’s 2nd largest arts festival, while Brighton Pride is also a big event on the annual calendar.

The room was in the 5th floor, there were no lifts.

The room was in the 5th floor, there were no lifts. Within the room were not a fridge, during the booking it was included. For a family like us with a 3ys old both of them are very important. There were not air condition in the room and we couldn't open the windows - during our stay the temperatures were high. We had a dirty towel in our room, but we didn't found any staff to complain or to ask support.

Brighton has a nice buzz to it.

Brighton has a nice buzz to it. There's a huge range of places to eat and you can never get bored. There is plenty to do. With all its shops and attractions, it is easy to see why Brighton is nicknamed 'London by the sea' It is fair to say that Brighton needs a lot of investment. There are areas of deprivation and some of the cultural attractions could do with an overhaul. The Brighton Dome Pavilion Gardens certain need some tending. Also, the Madeira Walk on the beach is in a derelict state. The good news is that conservation projects are underway to help both of these attractions. Money is being invested and hopefully, in a few years time, Brighton will look as posh as its more upmarket neighbour, Hove. Less shabby, and more shabby chic.

I really enjoyed Brighton for its vibrant atmosphere and the wide range of food and activities available. The city has a wonderful mix of tranquility and liveliness, with a beautiful beach that adds to its charm. Brighton is also a paradise for vintage clothing enthusiasts, as it is filled with vintage shops in the area known as "The Lanes." These maze-like streets are perfect for getting lost and discovering treasures in the various shops and markets.

Brighton is definitely worth a visit.

Brighton is definitely worth a visit. We went to the Pavilion but didn't wander the lanes or visit the museum. Next time. The 18th century architecture is a delight and the railway viaduct splendid. We look forward to returning and to visiting the various wineries to the north of the town. We didn't eat in Brighton but there are a huge number of attractive looking restaurants. We look forward to returning - perhaps for the Early Music Festival.

The hotel itself has a wonderful old fashioned style which is perfect for Brighton's faded seaside glamour. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean, aesthetic, and well set out. Everything was very well maintained. The seafront location is great. And Brighton's huge range of restaurants, cafes and pubs are nearby. Staff were professional. Overall I was struck by how well priced The Grand was for a UK hotel. Really impressed.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they resolved any issues that we had. Despite the issues with the parking, it is the cheapest that we could see in the area.
