Great facilities, room very well appointed. Even included some dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid - you never get that even when staying in a self catering rental property! Staff were helpful and attentive and very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Mini shop on site and free hot drinks was a brill extra. Great location. Excellent value for money. I didn't use the fitness suite but it consistent Ed of a couple of cross trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes so pretty ample. There may have been weights also, I only peered in through the window

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centres. Well-known for the M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it is a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.
Most city centre hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping centre, and just behind is Digbeth Coach Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.
The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Centre) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.
Just opposite is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modelled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.
The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top football clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.
Alexandra Theatre was very good
Road closures made driving difficult and also walking because some subways were closed and signs were very poor
Canal area is lovely and the main squares are impressive

Too crowded, a lot of rubbish, noisy, lack of cultural buildings/architecture. During entire day me and my family could see around happy people or even one smile of locals. And it was a weekend day… rapid contrast with Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Bristol. And no parks in the city centre, only grass around Churches, where you have a picnic being surrounded with old graves…
Bad choose for women clothes, sales everywhere, but sh*t looks. But you can buy men suits on good prices

I stayed just a night there.
I stayed just a night there. But the customer service was poor. I think they just extort money from customers without giving the right information.
So my experience wasn't great and I won't recommend or go back there in future.

We only go to Birmingham to visit family and old friends. I wouldn’t bother visiting Birmingham as a tourist, however it is fortunate to have beautiful places to visit nearby. This recent visit we went to Ironbridge which was just beautiful and definitely worth the visit. Also went to Winterbourne House and Gardens - loved it!

We only went to Birmingham to watch the cricket at Edgbaston and would not have gone there for any other reason. The hotel was good value but could have been even better if the staff had been better trained.

The taxi drivers are super-helpful but it's quite an easy city to walk around. The canal trip with Bingley's Cruises was marvellous, the Roundhouse is a delight, especially the Claire Cotterill collages, EVERYBODY is just startlingly friendly, the pub food was a treat (rocket salad with chicken! unheard of elsewhere), the Jewellery Quarter is bling heaven but I would have loved at least 1 of the museums to be open. Even New Street Station was a bit of a wonderland. I loved Birmingham.
was a reunion as such with friends made whilst we all worked in Sheffield, the hotel was part of the pub we were meeting in, so ideal for us who stayed overnight. Birmingham City Centre appears to be thriving and the Briar Rose hotel and Pub are part of the scene. thoroughly enjoyed it.
Central city centre location and a 5 min walk from the train station so very handy for shopping or business meetings in Birmingham.
Old grand hotel that is well maintained and super friendly and helpful reception and bar staff .
Price! For a H.I.E. hotel in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the price offered was exceptional. However, had to pay big amount on parking too, which reduced the good effect of very good stay/breakfast price.
great location in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham. Didn’t feel like a city centre hotel at all. lots of nice little touches too inc a hot water bottle !!
