These deceptively simple lavender shortbread wreaths will rule your next cookie swap. See below for how to pull them off.

STEP 1
Roll out the cookie dough between two sheets of lightly floured parchment paper until it’s about ⅛" thick.

STEP 2
Using two round cutters (one smaller than the other to make the wreath’s center), punch out circle, then cut out center.

STEP 3
Dip baked cookies into the glaze and let the excess drip back into the bowl. Try two or three at a time, then go immediately to Step 4.

STEP 4
Adorn these cookies however you please, just work quickly—the toppings won’t stick to dry glaze. You’ve got a minute or so to go wild.

The Star On Top

Upgrade from those Technicolor sugars in the back of the cupboard. Vibrant toppers like edible dried flowers, festive candied herbs, and colorful freeze-dried fruits dress up any cookie—especially our Lavender Shortbread. They’re easy to find, too. Most of the items above can be bought in the baking or tea aisles of well-stocked supermarkets. —Belle Cushing, editorial assistant
