Le Creuset knobs have always been about functionality—they’re oven-safe and provide a secure grip, but otherwise might seem like an afterthought. That’s a mistake. I’ve written about my own obsession with my Le Creuset flower cocotte, and I just recently discovered a way to make all of my Le Creuset cookware even more adorable: by swapping out the standard Le Creuset knobs for fun, novelty options.

If you like a classic yet customized look, the round standard knob runs from $22–$28 and comes in an array of finishes: gold, stainless steel, black, copper, and even an iridescent option that’s like peering into a rainbow pool of gasoline. As a bonus, all the metal knobs are oven-safe up to 500℉. These offer a slight upgrade to the classic black phenolic knob, which can only withstand temperatures of up to 390℉. If you tend to use your Le Creuset for high-heat baking, a metal knob is a nice way to get a little more out of your cookware.

Colorful finishes are cool, but you can also take things a step further with a novelty knob. Whether you want to amp up your flower cocotte, or if you missed out on the limited-edition drop, a flower-shaped knob is an easy way to add a floral touch to your kitchen. For collectors of Le Creuset’s heart-shaped cookware, there is, of course, a heart-shaped knob to amp up the cute factor. Trying to get your hands on one of the bear-shaped knobs? Same, but they’re pretty much impossible to come by except from websites like eBay and Poshmark, where you can buy them only at a significant markup.

It’s also worth noting that, if you’re a Staub person, there’s an even wider array of animal-shaped knobs to choose from. Ever dreamed of having a tiny snail keep watch over your simmering stew? You’re in luck, because they have snail, fish, rooster, and pig options, as well as a few other specialty animal shapes. These are also oven-safe up to 500℉ and come in a classic stainless-steel finish.

To swap out your Le Creuset knob, all you need is a few minutes and a screwdriver. First, be sure to purchase the correct size of knob for your cookware, as they come in small, medium, and large sizes that fit different pieces, depending on quart capacity. Once you’ve secured your kitchen accessories, Le Creuset’s website has all the instructions, including an illustrated guide, so you can customize your cookware to achieve peak cuteness.
