This Russian dressing, along with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and sweet relish, helps make up the Reuben Dog.

cup mayonnaise

cup sweet pickle relish

tablespoons ketchup

tablespoon fresh lemon juice

tablespoon prepared horseradish

teaspoon onion powder

teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Kosher salt

Preparation

  1. Mix mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, lemon juice, horseradish, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl; season with salt.

  • This recipe is so easy to make and makes your Reubens taste delicious because it’s NOT Thousand Island.

  • With the sweet relish, seems like this is more of a Russian Island or Thousand Russian dressing. No matter, it's what I was looking for anyway. After making to recipe, I needed more piquant and to see red pepper dots in the dressing. So I added 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard, 1/2 teaspoon of paprika and one teaspoon of Culichi hot sauce... a hot sauce from Mexico's west coast that is very similar to Worcestershire sauce but with more oomph. This is now my go to dressing for Reuben sandwiches.
