According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, the drink is a classic disco cocktail born in 1976 credited with giving rise to an entire class of cocktails known as “shooters” (composed shots). Ingredients

ounces vodka
¾
ounce fresh lime juice
¾
ounce triple sec
Preparation
Step 1
Combine vodka, lime juice, and triple sec in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.
Step 2
Strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer or a slotted spoon into two 2-oz. shot glasses.
