Maraschino liqueur sounds obscure but it's often hiding in plain sight. Seek it for this simple, classic cocktail.

  • I agree 100% with Anonymous from Philly! Where is the crème-de-violette? The recipe I follow: AVIATION COCKTAIL (c. 1919) ~ 2.00 Gin (Aviation, Plymouth, Drumshanbo or similar) ~ 0.75 Lemon Juice ~ 0.50 Crème-de-Violette (Rothman & Winter) ~ 0.25 Maraschino liqueur (Luxardo) Shake. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish w/ brandied cherry.

  • The rated should be 2 stars but the website changed it to 5. Where's the Creme de Violette? It's not an Aviation without it.
