The Drake Hotel

GO HERE: to stay in a boutique hotel that’s as much a night on the town as an overnight accommodation. (Alas, it’s got nothing to do with Toronto’s other favorite Drake, who came along a few years later.) Each of the 19 rooms has a highly curated look and feel, with midcentury modern furnishings, bold pops of color, and top-notch amenities, including a nice selection of booze, rose-petal turndown service, and an X-rated in-room “pleasure menu” for guests looking to spice things up. Elsewhere, the complex also includes a concert venue, the all-season Sky Yard patio bar, a packed dining room with a sushi omakase menu, and a rotating selection of contemporary art exhibitions throughout the complex.

STAY IN THE: suite, if you’re looking for a bit of legroom: at just under 400 square feet, it’s one of the hotel’s biggest rooms. If you’re a solo traveler, one of the 150-square-foot Crash Pads might be just about perfect.

THE VIBE IS: all action, all the time. The Drake is the increasingly rare hotel that’s got more local character than an Airbnb.

PRACTICAL STUFF: Rooms start at $229 CAD per night. Book well in advance at thedrakehotel.ca.
