Discover Broadway, the jewel of the Cotswolds

Broadway is the quintessential, postcard-perfect Cotswold village. Its wide, main street (hence the name Broadway) is a vision of horse chestnut trees, honey-hued buildings, and pretty cottages. There is an abundance of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants to explore along with some excellent dining spots. The historical Lygon Arms Hotel takes centre stage. Whilst once host to King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell, it’s now where you’ll find the grill restaurant of celebrity chef, James Martin.

High above the village, on the Cotswold Escarpment, the Broadway Tower is an iconic landmark that can be seen from miles around. Designed by Capability Brown, the folly was built in 1798 and the views on a clear day are spectacular. From the gentle landscapes of the Vale of Evesham to the Malvern Hills and Wales in the distance. In total 16 counties can be seen from the top. It’s particularly special as the sun sets and on winter afternoons. When the air is cold, you can see the twinkle of lights and smoke rising from cottage chimneys in the village below. Visitors can walk up from the village. The Broadway Tower Park sits on the notable Cotswold Way National Trail, or drive up. Take a gentle walk around the Deer Park to see the resident herd and then enjoy refreshments in the Morris & Brown Café.

The village is lauded for its artistic history, with many artists, including William Morris and J.M.W Turner, having stayed in the area. Many galleries now reside down the pretty streets. It’s also home to the Gordon Russell Design Museum, which celebrates the life and work of Gordon Russell. Whilst the bi-annual Broadway Arts Festival plays homage to the arty history of the village.

Surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and a multitude of attractions, Broadway is undoubtedly the perfect Cotswold destination. See below for our collection of holiday homes and cottages nearby.
