Second Columbus Atlantique 43 yacht launched and named Frette

6 June 2024 • Written by Holly Margerrison

Italian shipyard Columbus Yachts has launched the second yacht in its Atlantique 43 series, named Frette in honour of the renowned Frette brand. The model will be on display during the Monaco Yacht Show and Cannes Yachting Festivals later this year. She will join sistership Night Fury II  which was launched earlier this year, on the water.

Both the exterior and interior design of the 43-metre is the work of Milan-based studio Hot Lab under the philosophy of "architecture for voyagers". According to the studio, the yacht is a "natural synthesis between a motor yacht and a classic sailing boat" with smooth exterior lines. Meanwhile, the naval engineering was carried out by the shipyard in collaboration with the Hydro Tec studio

Designed to meet its owner's requirements, the layout of the 460 GT yacht is characterised by large outdoor areas and generous indoor spaces to ensure there is "total contact with the surrounding landscape". The interior is also fittingly adorned with Frette linens.

A particular highlight is Frette's sailing-style stern, which hosts a five-metre long central swimming pool which sits just 50 centimetres above sea level. The addition of the two lateral folding side wings enhance the feeling of direct contact with the water.

Accommodation is located on the lower deck and spans five double cabins, three twin and two VIP cabins which can be converted into a VIP suite. Comprising three double cabins, crew accommodation is found forward of the lower deck.

A 5.5-metre tender can be found at the stern with a garage on the starboard side, and the main deck forward has been arranged to house both the second tender (rescue boat) and two jet skis.

The Columbus Atlantique 43 can reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, with power deriving from a pair of 970kW Cat C32 Acert engines.

Camper & Nicholsons New Build Division represented the owner from the pre-contract phase throughout the entire build, acting as owner’s project manager and technical surveyor.
