Dörries Yachts releases preview of 114m Project Arwen's impressive observation platform

15 July 2024 • Written by Dea Jusufi

German shipyard Dörries Yachts has offered a first look inside the Nest, the observation platform on board its 114.1-metre Project Arwen. The superyacht is currently under construction at the shipyard's facilities in Bremerhaven and is expected to hit the water by October 2026.

Renderings reveal an enclosed area with sofa seating, a double bed and curved glass walls that offer close to 360-degree views. Forward, there is access to a Jacuzzi and a winter garden, the latter arranged with a bar, a seating area and an adjacent bathroom and shower. With these amenities, the Nest could also be converted into an additional owner's suite or VIP cabin.

Arwen's exterior and interior design is owed to US design firm Píndaros, assisted by Champeau Wilde and Andy Waugh, while naval architecture has been completed by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture.

Speaking exclusively to BOAT International, the owner said he anticipates taking the vessel to the Caribbean islands and the south of France, where crystal-clear waters and hidden coves "beckon to his adventurous spirit".  The ability to spend time away from bustling cities and crowds, and to have a "retreat that feels like a true home" motivated him to build his own yacht, which is customised to his exact preferences.

Guest accommodation is across six en suite cabins, while a dedicated owner's deck features a spacious, 290-square-metre suite with access to a foredeck lounge and dining area. The main saloon is warm and bright, benefitting from a ceiling height of 5.9 metres, bay windows and a mezzanine level that offers access to the upper deck.

A design highlight is the 20-metre-long swimming pool, 13.2 metres of which can be hydraulically raised to extend the deck area and "provide a versatile space for leisure and entertainment".

A multi-level spiral staircase, a helipad (with capacity for a H135 helicopter), an indoor and outdoor cinema, a spa, a gym, a hair and beauty salon and a bar complete the superyacht's extensive list of amenities.

Project Arwen is expected to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Olesinski most recently shared Rise with BOAT International, a 70-metre concept to be built at Dörries Yachts as a "no-compromise spa zone that has every luxury".
