When a Bing user in China enters a search query, the request is routed via servers located on the Chinese mainland, which apply a filter that ensures censored information is shut out. It’s a similar process to the one Microsoft Inc. uses to comply with laws in various countries regarding child pornography or copyright. The difference is what’s being blocked.
