Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico chaired a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, his first return to work since he survived an assassination attempt nearly two months ago.

Fico, 59, has been convalescing since sustaining four gunshot wounds on May 15, when an assailant opened fire at the nation’s longest-serving premier — the first such attempt on a European leader’s life in more than two decades.
