Walmart Files Show Wrong Prices Charged at 1,600 Stores for Days

  • Cash register outages and photo delays among other ‘anomalies’
  • Company says it has refunded most overcharged customers

One evening in March — at 8:41 p.m. Chicago time to be exact — internal warnings flashed within Walmart Inc. about a curious thing happening at hundreds of its stores across the US.

Shoppers scanning certain items at self-checkout stands were seeing the wrong prices. Some prices were lower than listed. Others were higher.
