The star forward was meant to be the cornerstone of Joe Tsai’s Brooklyn Nets, but now he’ll join the Phoenix Suns and new owner Mat Ishbia.

When basketball superstar Kevin Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets in July 2019, he quickly became the centerpiece of billionaire Joe Tsai’s effort to build a championship-winning superteam.

The Nets are “in a great position to compete,” Tsai, the co-founder of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., said a month later when he bought the entirety of the organization.
