In the lead-up to the 2020 general election, the Democratic National Committee will hold 12 debates to introduce their candidates and policies to potential voters. The questions the moderators choose to ask—and the candidates’ answers—will help shape the race for the Democratic nomination and the general election.

So far, health care, foreign policy and President Donald Trump are emerging as major debate themes, while topics like education, criminal justice and guns have received relatively little attention.
