Flogging Molly sporting some swell wellies

Flogging Molly to rock Sonic Boom for FREE!

When I first heard Flogging Molly, it was a music geek's dream come true: after years of listening to the Pogues and waiting for a big-ass hardcore guitar to kick in, someone actually put together the band I'd been yearning for, a perfect blend of Irish folk and American punk.

Local fans of the band are likely already well aware that Dave King (remember Fastway?) and company will be setting up shop at Koolhaus (132 Queens Quay East) for a sold out show on Monday night (February 18), but they may not be aware that they'll also be doing an in-store appearance at Sonic Boom (512 Bloor) at 3pm that day. Those lucky enough to cram into the store in time will treated to an acoustic live set and an autograph session.

The LA-based septet is currently touring in support of their sixth album, Float, which will be officially available for sale on March 4th. However, the band's label, Side One Dummy, is claiming on their site that you can save $2 on the new disc at the in-store, so it stands to reason that there will be advance copies available. In the meantime, you can hear two new tracks on their band page at Side One Dummy.
