Last summer, artist Jode Roberts brought the city the opportunity to walk the length of the entire solar system (as scale-mapped onto Grace and Gore Vale) via his Walkable Planets public art project. Thanks to you could cruise from Christie Pits to Queen West, learning facts about our neighbouring planets and generally feeling like you'd done something with your day.

That lasted for a little while, until no fun Toronto struck yet again. "After they were installed this summer, a few of the original signs were decorated by local youth (with words that start with F)," Roberts says. City staff eventually ordered that the signs be taken down, since they were not hung at proper heights and technically not allowed on city streets (in addition to being covered in cuss words).

But, amateur astronauts, all was not lost. Roberts has mounted a Tilt campaign, which has already raised enough cash (a modest $750) to bring back the project this summer - this time, printed on graffiti-treated signs, and mounted on posts and poles in city parks, where rules are looser. He's hit his goal, but the campaign is still going for another few days (I can only hope he gets a little extra to spend on a bonus sign for Pluto).
