A scorching 28C European heatwave will hit the UK, new maps show. New maps by WXCharts, which uses data from MetDesk, show the temperatures from Spain, Turkey, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus which have skyrocketed to 45C could hit Britain.
One map suggests maximum temperatures will spike to 28C in some areas of southern England on the evening of July 23. The map shows England coloured in hot red up to Leeds, with temperatures in the area in the lower 20C.
The BBC Weather team explained: "The outlook looks rather changeable with temperatures trending towards the average for the time of year. Nonetheless, slightly warmer and more settled conditions may set in later."

Into July 21 to August 4, the BBC added: "In the fourth week of July, the forecast confidence decreases. Nevertheless, lower pressure may remain over the far north-west and perhaps northern parts of Europe, while higher pressure may sit further south, i.e. close to the UK. Some model solutions show higher pressure over parts of Scandinavia."
"In the next issue we will see whether the announced more settled and tentatively warmer trend will continue at the end of July and the beginning of August," it went on to say," the BBC Weather team added. Exacta Weather's James Madden added: "The expected and well-promised pattern change for July 10-20, particularly July 15-17, is now on and imminent for some very hot to potentially extreme heat, which is now on the horizon for many parts of the country within the next several days.
"And if that wasn't enough, the latest Global Forecast System model runs have ramped up expectations, predicting an earlier arrival of the hot spell and potentially extreme heat during the same mid-July window, especially around the July 17. It looks like it could get exceptionally hot for vast swathes of the UK and Ireland.
This major heat surge is now fully expected. There is now absolutely no reason why this developing scenario won't produce temperatures in the mid-to high 30s in places and 30C+ elsewhere at the peak of this heat for in and around mid-July, and over a several-day period or more, at the very least from later next week onwards."
