Tenacious D guitarist Kyle Gass unveiled a festive last-minute surprise on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) in the form of face-shredding charity single “Xmas w/ Devil.”
“The soundtrack to your Christmas has arrived!” Tenacious D tweeted to share the news. “This holiday single is available exclusively on The Kyle Gass Project’s Bandcamp – with proceeds supporting ActBlue. Purchase the song here!”
On the rocking comedy track, Gass refuses to let the ongoing coronavirus pandemic steal all of his holiday cheer “The holidays come this time each year/ Families, traditions, champagne and beer/ But this year’s different/ There’s a bug on the loose/ And he’s got the blues/ But I’m still gonna party/ You can kiss my caboose,” he sings before thunderous drums and hard-charging electric guitar stampede over the vocals.

Proceeds for the single will go to ActBlue, the nonprofit tech organization benefitting Democratic candidates, progressive organizations and other non-profits by making grassroots fundraising simpler and easier.
While “Xmas w/ Devil” is the debut release of Gass’ latest side project, Tenacious D also unleashed two songs in 2020: single “5 Needs” and a cover of The Rocky Horror Picture Show‘s “Time Warp,” which they recorded as part of Rock the Vote’s initiative to get young Americans engaged in the 2020 presidential election.
The comedy duo’s last full-length studio set, Post-Apocalypto, dropped in 2018 and bowed at No. 93 on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, Gass released Thundering Herd, his most recent solo album under the moniker Kyle Gass Band, two years previously in 2016.
