The British Dental Association is seeking a dedicated Editor in Chief of the BDJ Portfolio to join their Marketing Communications team and work closely with colleagues at our publishers Springer Nature.

The BDJ Portfolio is a highly regarded suite of dental journals published on behalf of the BDA by Springer Nature. Consisting of the flagship title, the British Dental Journal (BDJ), and five additional titles: BDJ Open, Evidence-Based Dentistry, BDJ In Practice, BDJ Team, and BDJ Student, the Portfolio collectively aims to provide information and guidance for dentists, researchers, dental care professionals, and students.

About the role:

As Editor in Chief of the BDJ Portfolio, you will:

  • Direct and oversee the full portfolio of journals
  • Serve as a point of contact for Editors and Associate Editors
  • Advocate and work on development goals at both individual journal and portfolio levels
  • Proofread and assess articles for suitability across the portfolio
  • Help each journal achieve its aims and priorities individually and collectively as a Portfolio.

About you:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of clinical, regulatory, and wider policy aspects of dentistry, particularly in the UK
  • Strong research and publication record
  • Prior experience in editorial, peer review, and publishing activities related to dental and oral health research.
