Bayou Fuels
The Bayou Fuels biorefinery will produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reach decarbonisation targets for aviation. The goals in the United States are a 20% drop in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and fully zero carbon aviation by 2050.
At Bayou Fuels the end-to-end technology solution will turn waste woody biomass from forestry operations into SAF.
The woody biomass feedstock for this operation is abundant in this area. It consists of forestry waste that would otherwise be underutilised or left on the ground to rot.
The biorefinery will also use renewable power and carbon capture and storage (CCS). Carbon dioxide that is produced in the waste-to-fuels process is captured and sequestered underground. This will lead to an end product that has an overall negative carbon impact and will further assist in mitigating climate change.
